Personally i like custom adopts. Just for the fact that i feel like the artist took more time and i feel like you can create more unque and interesting things with custom line. Im not saying thats true for everyone and every thing. But art is also nice to be gotten with an adopt especially if you pay a lot

Personally, my only thing against mystery adopts is that you don't know what you're getting. While this surprise element can be a good thing, I don't want to buy a mystery adopt so when it hatches/grows up/reveals itself it turns out being something I don't like and I'll dislike having spent all the money/pets/whatever currency to buy something that in the end, I don't like and won't want to keep. X3
Custom line adopts are always nice, bit expensive for me, but they're very nice and I really like them. :3

I much prefer custom lines, however I personally do spend some money on re-used lines. I think a full body and a side, chibi / derp view would do very well. If you do mystery adopts, have the adopts ready before you sell them and make sure people know it's done. I've seen people sell mystery adopts and never finish them.

I never buy mystery adopts personally because you don't know if what your going to get is worth the money you spent but if you show like a section of the design then it gives some idea. I love custom lines but I don't think it makes any difference to the design, most of my characters were premade lines and I spent as much on them as on custom lined characters.
