I roll my eyes at Shadepelts weirdness, but don't say anything when he invites the she-cat to do dawn patrol. Four is a good number for a patrol. But i don't know what's gotten into him. He never showed any interest in Windsong before... perhaps he likes her. The thought doesn't have much effect on me, except a twinge of sadness i don't recognize. I guess it's hard to think that someone might get between me and my closest, recently recovered, friend. I shake myself, "Come on, if you're coming" I call to Shadepelt and Windsong.

I see Foxfur leave with Hawktail and sigh. "Nevermind, you don't have to come." I mutter to Windsong, feeling flustered. "Sorry i bothered you." Then I turn and follow Foxfur and Hawktail into the forest, dejected, nervous, confused. And hurt, very hurt, and there's no reason to be, either. That's what makes it so pathetic. I'm just... I'm hurt about something that doesn't exist and hasn't happened. Pathetic!

Squirming against my unseen kin, I move instinctively to my mothers warm bell, purely by scent. I'm starved, that's the first feeling the world gives me; hunger. I finally find what I seek and tame the gnawing beast that lives in my small stomach, taking deep drinks of my mothers milk.

Mousekit:
Hunger. So hunger. And thirsty. My mews squeak insufficiently against those of my fellow kits, and I can't open my eyes, despite the urge to try. I flounder forward on stubby paws until my face bumps into the soft smell of my mothers fur. She is the only thing i know; and her milk is what I need.

"When have I ever been weak?" She watches longingly as Thunderstar kits. "They are so cute." She whispers.

Based on the awkward silence, it's a good thing Windsong joined. I catch my chance at her soft, kind words. "Oh?" I ask, confused that this she-kat I've never spoken to, should have been lost in thought about me, "Why? Did i do something strange?" I ask, loud enough that Foxfur will overhear. I want her to hear. I want her to see that I'm not being rude anymore, and more than anything, i want her to feel the same thing i felt when she curled up next to Russetclaw.
