I look up at Shadepelt, confused by his stiff voice, "Ok... morning to you too, sunshine (irony!)." I keep my voice bright, but inside I feel that I've somehow offended him. Brushing it off, I look past him, waiting to see Russetclaw. "As soon as Russetclaw finishes eating, we'll go." I say, and know as soon as I've said it that it was the wrong thing to say. That's weird... why would that be wrong? I don't know, but I know, you know? Ugh, stupid mind.

After two weird looks; Shadepelt and Foxfur, I decide I'm not that tired after all. I head back into the clearing, avoid eye contact again, and go back to Thunderstar's den. I nestle down beside her once more, and wait for her to wake.
