Jack tossed and turned. His PTSD had gotten terrible lately. At 3:30, he jolted awake, curling into himself. At times he woke up, not knowing where he was. This was one of those times.

Not many understand the comfort I get when I walk into a bookstore and take a deep breath as I look around. I feel at home; I feel welcome. I don't have to purchase anything. Being surrounded by books fills me with a sense of security.

Cecilie hadn't been able to sleep at all since Jack had come to bed; not at all. She'd made sure he was asleep, then pulled out a book and read. If he knew about her lack of sleep, he'd get worried, so she just didn't tell him. But every time that he tossed and turned, she couldn't help but wince a bit. His PTSD was growing increasingly worse by the day, and it was really beginning to worry her. At some point in the night, probably around 3:30, she looked over to she that he was awake. Her lips tugged downward in a frown. "Jack?" she asked softly.

Jack whimpered, startled by her. He looked up at her. "Cecilie?" He asked softly. He was shaking.

Cecilie immediately set her book aside and sat up a bit, watching him with concern. "Yes baby, I'm here," she said gently, her expression full of worry and her voice soft. "Are you okay? Oh, Jack...you're shaking." She bit her lip.

Jack looked around, realizing he was home. He hugged her. "They were everywhere," he whimpered to her.

Cecilie pulled him close, knowing that he needed to be comforted, even though she was shaking a bit as well. She hated to see him this upset. "Shh...who were, baby?" she whispered.

Jack dug his face into her. "The soldiers," he whispered.

Cecilie winced. That's what she was afraid of; his dreams were getting worse. "It's okay Jack," she whispered, pulling him closer. "It's okay. There's no one here, alright? It's just you and me in the kids. There will never be any more soldiers ever again." She had one arm wrapped around him and the other rested on the back of his head.

Jack nodded, hanging onto her like his life depended on it. Soon, he started to cry into her shoulder.
