Gin is that shy and carefree girl that is usually lost in her own world, but pays careful attention to the things happening around her. She is kind and understanding, and loves a good laugh. Gin will do anything to boost someone's spirit up, for she hates seeing people depressed and down.

I N T O T H E P A S T

Her parents were always arguing and Gin would often sneak out to explore, and started paying attention to nearly everything. She grew up with a hard shell around her, often distancing herself from others. However, Gin would often cheer up a lot of people by gifting them or being kind to them, and most of them returned the kindness. At the age of thirteen, her parents divorced and she went to live with her mother, who let her do anything she wanted. Gin didn't do much though, but she usually stayed out until late night, returning home and fell asleep straight away. Her mother started work 24/7, and Gin became independent and took the house for herself. For the past two years, nothing special has happened.

Moretz was born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 10, 1997. Her mother, Teri (née Duke), is a nurse, and her father, McCoy Lee Moretz, is a plastic surgeon. Moretz has four older brothers: Brandon, Trevor, Colin, and Ethan. She has described her family as "very Christian". She has German, English, and some Scottish, Welsh, and Swiss-German ancestry.

One of Moretz's brothers, Trevor (aka "Duke"), is her acting coach and accompanies her on trips and press dates when her parents are unable to attend. Moretz moved from Cartersville, Georgia to New York in 2002, with her mother and her older brother, Trevor, because he was accepted into the Professional Performing Arts School, which is what first drew her interest in acting. Moretz would help Trevor read lines, and he taught her some of the acting techniques he learned in school.
