"Would the kids be okay if I came back?"

"It might take some getting used to, but they'd be ecstatic," Luke assured her. "They really miss you, Kris."

"I miss them. I only stoppee seeing them because it hurt to much to watch them go."

"I know, baby," Luke murmured to her softly. "I know. Things are going to be different, but I promise that it'll be for the better."

She scooted over. "Lay with me?" She asked.

Luke nodded. "Of course I will," he murmured. He climbed up onto the couch beside her and laid behind her with her back to his chest. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close.

Kris rolled over, cuddling close. She was exausted from the earlier episode so she closed her eyes.

Luke buried his face in her neck. "I love you," he whispered again softly,

"I love you too," she whispered gently, before dozing off. Instead if her grip loosening, she held him tighter."

Luke just held her, his eyes closed. He didn't sleep; he wasn't at all tired. He just wanted to be near her. It had been so long since he'd heard her say that she loved him.
