I'm pretty sure everyone has heard of the infamous Herobrine.
What do you think of him?
Real? Mob? Hacker? Ghost? Or just a tale?
Anyone have any stories or possible sightings?

Well I have mixed feelings about him, but I believe there was once a glitch of which Herobrine was created.
But on the Pocket Edition of Minecraft, my friend saw him; or so she said.
And
my friend's friend had minecraft and apparently saw him.
So I don't know, but until I see it I won't believe it.

Well... I personally believe he is a myth. I think that Herobrine is just something Mojang says to add lore to the game. All the videos I've seen with "Herobrine" in them don't seem real to me. They could've been using the Herobrine AI plugin, or have edited the video if they were playing on PE. But that's just my opinion.

That is true, the plugins and mods are a lot of fun, and it dose add a mystery to the game.

Herobrine doesn't exist. He was created by someone to mess around and scare people and it sort of went farther than they thought. They even admitted it. Mojang plays along because they are cool with their community like that. Every update there is -Removed Herobrine just for giggles.
It has been confirmed many times Herobrine doesn't, and has never, existed. You could scour the entire code and find no possible way for a "glitch" like that to be created.

Fun story, though, and fun to mess with peoples heads with. Anyone who has ever claimed to have "seen" him are either lying or they need to get their eyes checked LOL

Yah, the people who make videos on it install a mod. I think it's called the Herobine mod.

Some people use the mode others don't. There are some pretty convincing videos if you look hard enough that don't use the mod.

Actually, the first few videos that started the whole thing used a retextured door to play the part of "Herobrine." Like, they made their own texture pack where the only thing different than the default texture was a door with Herobrine's skin on it.

And I don't think a glitch that doesn't let players respawn has anything to do with some creepy ghost character.

I can assure you guys, he doesn't exist c; I could even dig up some old Notch tweets that said he has never existed. But now Mojang even features him on the Minecraft cards to play along with it. It's pretty amusing.

It'd be a pretty cool addition - a shame they'll never add such a thing.

I was playing on my hardcore world. I was doing great! Just finished building my fancy house and going through all my chests I went down to my stripe mine to find some diamonds since I was running low at the time . Everything was going good, I managed to fill my inventory twice up with cobble, coal and iron. And I managed to find a stack of gold and 12 diamonds. Right after digging up my 12th diamond I look up and there is a cave system above it! And guess who came for a visit..Mr. Creeper..I died..

So now I have to go back to yesterday's work(I save a copy of the save and paste it on my desktop for moments like this xD) and restart my house, my chests house and my stripe mining.. -.-
