Diptail just grunted at her and ignored her words.

Specklepelt got up and headed out of camp to go hunting.

Kestrelclaw pricked his ears up when he heard Moonstar's voice not far off, calling the Clan together for a meeting. "Eh, guess we'll have to cut the training session short," he told Sootpaw. "I think Moonstar's 'bout to pick a new deputy! C'mon, we don't wanna miss it!" Quick as a rabbit, he dashed back into the camp, checking back once or twice to make sure that Sootpaw was following, and sat down beside Jaywing and Vineheart. When Moonstar announced that Ivycloud would be the new deputy of AshClan, Kestrelclaw beamed and wasted no time in padding over to the ginger-and-white she-cat to congratulate her. "Hey, Ivycloud! Congratulations on becomin' deputy! You d'serve it." A happy purr rumbled in his throat. However, the purr was cut off short when he heard Larkpaw's quiet threat. He swiveled an ear toward the apprentice, suspicion rising inside him. What's up with her?

Batfang sniffed the air as well and swiveled his ears back and forth, searching for any signs of prey. The scent of wagtail immediately hit his nostrils and he dropped quickly into the hunters' crouch, padding slowly but surely in the direction that the scent was coming from. He spotted the small bird settled on the ground, a tiny bug in its beak. He stalked forward silently, the tip of his tail twitching eagerly, then pounced all of a sudden and landed squarely on the wagtail, killing it with a quick bite to the neck. Batfang picked up the bird in his mouth, looking quite pleased with himself, and buried it at the roots of a tree. "We'll come back for it later. Can you scent any more prey around here?"

Mallowshade had heard Moonstar's announcement, but she paid no mind to it. There were more important things at paw. Taking a deep breath and looking around to make sure that no one would hear, Mallowshade padded slowly into the medicine cat's den and settled down beside Spiritfur with a sigh. "Brambletail appeared to me," she said, forcing her voice to stay calm. "He...he told me that the Dark Forest cats led a raid against StarClan, a-and-" She was beginning to choke up. "And Gingerfur was killed."

Larkpaw composed herself and was aware of others staring as she left her den and padded up to Ivycloud. In a sweet but fake voice, she mewed,"Want to go hunting?"

"WHAT?! killed?" She said softly but it a louder tone. She stared in disbelief, "she was killed... Again?"

Ivycloud smiled at Kestrelclaw, "Thanks!"

Jaywing stared after Larkpaw, head tilted, confusion clear on his face. He padded out of the Medicine den, following her.

"No problem," Kestrelclaw replied perkily. He narrowed his eyes at Larkpaw when she asked Ivycloud if she wanted to go hunting together, and added before the newly-appointed deputy could even reply, "I'll come huntin' with you guys. And maybe Sootpaw'll wanna come too." He turned around to face his apprentice. "Sootpaw! You wanna join us for a hunt, or wouldja rather stay and relax after all that training?"

"Yes," Mallowshade murmured softly, her voice stricken with grief. "What are we going to do? I knew the Dark Forest cats cared nothing for StarClan, but to go so far as to try and kill them...and why would they choose to do so now? What's going to happen to the surviving StarClan cats? Will there be surviving StarClan cats? And what about us? If they have the guts to attack StarClan, then surely it won't be long before they try to attack us as well. Please, Spiritfur, tell me you know something about this." There was a pleading look in her eyes. Even though Spiritfur was a medicine cat, and medicine cats normally had a very close connection with StarClan, she knew deep down inside that her sister was probably just as powerless as she was. Still, maybe StarClan would send her a dream explaining everything and telling her what to do. There was no harm in asking.

Larkpaw padded straight out of camp, ignoring the fact that her cuts had began bleeding again. When she was far away from the camp, she stopped. "You should ask if you wanted to walk with me, Jaywing."

(And sorry, I'm also doing the Larkpaw amv while posting so I may be a bit slow. BTW it's to the song unfolding time by broken iris, if anyone was wondering))
