It did sting. It stung very much. However, Larkpaw wasn't about to let that show. Nope. So she gritted her teeth hard. Soon the stinging faded.

"Strike me again," Kestrelclaw instructed, his gaze unwavering as he watched his apprentice carefully.

Batfang sniffed the air as well and swiveled his ears back and forth, searching for any signs of prey. The scent of wagtail immediately hit his nostrils and he dropped quickly into the hunters' crouch, padding slowly but surely in the direction that the scent was coming from. He spotted the small bird settled on the ground, a tiny bug in its beak. He stalked forward silently, the tip of his tail twitching eagerly, then pounced all of a sudden and landed squarely on the wagtail, killing it with a quick bite to the neck. Batfang picked up the bird in his mouth, looking quite pleased with himself, and buried it at the roots of a tree. "We'll come back for it later. Can you scent any more prey around here?"

Mallowshade shifted nervously from paw to paw, taking deep breaths as she did so. "C'mon, Spiritfur...Get back to camp already." She had heard about the incidents with the fox and the two dogs, and she knew that her sister would be busy tending to her Clanmates. Still, Mallowshade was growing more and more impatient by the second. She needed to tell Spiritfur what she had heard from Brambletail, and she needed to tell her when they were alone. She didn't want to worry any of her Clanmates and get them involved if they didn't have to be.
