Albus sat looking at the newly mated pair with his twinkling blue eyes. The last time they had, had a Veela walk the halls of Howgwarts was when Lucius himself went to the school. Now the elder Malfoy stood next to his son, with a look of pride in his eyes. Really they didnt have much to tell the teens they just wanted to find out of them bonding was true.

"Well now the two of you may leave." The teens stood and quickly walked out of his office.

"Ginny asked if I could stop by can we go down there now?" Avery asked Draco once they were safely in the hall. The meeting with Albus had been awful. The man kept asking them about what had happened and Lucius just looked at them smiling. Draco did his best to keep the questions at bay but the Veela could only do so much.

"I dont have to go with you anymore. Since we are bonded we can start to spend some time away from each other." Draco said and the hurt the flashed in his mates eyes he quickly pulled her close.

"No love it's just if we spend time apart I wont go crazy anymore. My urge to bond has been settled, but we can only be apart about an hour. Too much time away from you and I will start to go crazy." He said softly holding her close. His tiny mate snuggled closer laying her head on his chest. She was so soft and warm. Draco closed his eyes and buried his face into her long raven colored curls, taking a deep breath of the rose scent in her hair.

"Go have fun with Ginny. Im going to see Blaise and Millicent." Slowly the raven haired girl pulled away from her mate and gave a nod of her head. She felt reluctant to leave him but she knew she would have to get used to it. When the get older she cant spend every second with him. They will both have jobs and most likely those jobs wont allow them to work side by side.

"But only an hour right?" Her voice was soft and Draco could tell she was reluctant to leave him. The Veela smile and he tucked a curly lock behind her ear. He thought the Veela was the only one who was suppose to be like this.

"Only an hour my little bird." The blonde leaned down and kissed her softly. "Ill walk you to the tower if you would like." His mate nodded, lacing her fingers with his. He gave a sparkling smile and walked with her towards the Gryffindor tower.

Avery peaked into the common room to see if her brother was there. Giving a thankful sigh to see it was only occupied by a few first years, she quickly darted into the room and up the stairs to the girls dorm. A warm smile spread across her face when she saw a familiar head of red hair leaned over a text book, scribbling away.

"Hey Gin." At the sound of her name the red head looked up and when her eyes landed on Avery they lit up. What ever homework she had been working on was forgotten and she bolted across the room hugging her friend tightly. The girls stood there holding each other closely for a few minutes. Even though it had only been a week it had felt like forever to the pair. For years they had spent almost every second together.

"I've missed you." Ginny said softly, finally pulling away from her friend.

"I've missed you too Gin. Whats happened while I was gone?" Avery felt very late when it came to the happenings of Hogwarts since she had been spending almost all of her time with Draco.

"Mione moved out. She said it is a Head Girl thing but I think there is more behind it." Both the girls looked at each other wondering what it could be.

"And Harry and I got back together." At this news Avery's eyes lit up and she smiled wide.

"Oh Gin I'm so happy for you two. I could tell how miserable you've been without him." Ginny smiled and a soft blush came to her cheeks.

"I thought I had done a good job of hiding it, but I dont care. I'm so happy that I dont have to hide it anymore Avery." The lioness gave a dreamy sigh which made the raven haired girl giggle.

Avery sat there for a moment and then a rock fell into the pit of her stomach. She had maimed and blinded Ron and Ginny didnt even seem upset. "Hows Ron..." Her voice was so soft the other lioness almost didnt here. Ginny gave a soft sigh and looked down at her lap.

"He will be blind in that eye forever. Mum about ripped his head off when she found out what he did to you and Draco. She wanted to see you but Dumbledore said it might be too much for you. Mum wanted to take him back but with Voldemort so powerful she let him stay here. He wont have classes for the rest of the semester and he gets his own rooms, but if he goes within 10 feet of you or Draco a binding spell is automatically put on him. They would have done more but you guys have some classes together. And he only gets his wand during Transfiguration and Charms." Avery looked up at Ginny tears welling in her eyes.

"I ruined his life.." The raven haired girl croaked. Ginny shook her head and pulled her friend in close. Avery toke a deep breath, comforted by her friends scent.

"It was awful what he did to you and Draco Avery. He has gone mad. He isnt Ron anymore and he isn't my brother. Avery when Mum came to visit he just kept mumbling about how he wanted to kill you and Draco. He is dangerous." Urgency was clear in her friends tone. "I dont want you upset by any of this. Be happy youre mated to Draco now, Harry and I are together, and Hermione has something important to tell us tonight."

"What is it?" Avery asked curious about this new news. The reed head just gave a shrug in response.

"I dont know she just told Harry and I to meet her by the lake after dinner, and to tell you and Draco when we saw you. The only thing she had to say was that it's important. So cheer up today is a happy day. How long can you and Draco be apart?"

"Ony about 40 more minutes. I can already feel myself starting to get anxious." It was true. A knot had formed in Avery's stomach as soon as Draco kissed her goodbye. She could feel their bond tugging her, softly, towards him. It was easy for her to feel his emotions and right now he was happy but she could feel his anxiety.

"Good cause Harry barely told me anything and I want to know every last detail." The red head gave a smirk and winked at her friend. Avery's cheeks went bright red and she fiddled with the end of her robes.

"Oh Ginny it was amazing...."

The girls giggled and laughed, gossiping, sharing all the smutty details with each other about their experiences.

Time Apart

The second Avery walked through the portrait Draco wanted to call her back. . Yes, know that they were bonded he could stand to spend a little bit of time away from her, but that didnt mean that he wanted to. Knowing that he needed to get used to this, the Veela forced himself to turn around and walk towards the dungeons. The farther he walked to easier it was, but there was always that knot in his chest that told him his mate was alone. Finally the boy looked up and realized he was standing at the door to the Slytherin commons. Wow that walk went fast.

"Copper head." He hissed and the door swung open. It was incredibly cheesy but the password was always a breed snake. Once inside the garish green and silver room he was tacked by a short pudgy girl.

"Oh Dray I knew you would come back to me! They all fell for you bonding with that mudblood but I knew better! You could never mate with her because I'm your mate!" Before he had time to react his lips were assaulted by a pair covered in way to much lip gloss. Draco pulled away and pushed the girl off.

"Pansy you git! For the last and finally time I would never EVER mate with you so get the foolish idea out of your brain." The Veela wiped the cheery flavored gloss off of him and looked at the puggish girl in front of him. In spite of his harsh words the lust and love didnt vanish from her eyes.

"Oh Dray you dont have to act around me. Remember all the fun we've had together." The Slytherin moved closer pressing herself against Draco, his nose was assaulted with her overbearing perfume. The Veela shoved the girl away from him again, and quickly tucked his shirt back in that she had busied herself into trying to untuck.

"I love her Pansy and yes we have had our history." Draco shuddered at the thought. "But that is history. I have bonded with her, what she and I have is real. You and I that was just a game, a way to waist the day." His words struck with the girl, sadness turned to anger, which turned to rage.

"You are MINE Draco! I have spent my whole life lusting after you, picturing our wedding day, waiting on you hand and foot, and this is how you repay me?! This little Potter will not stand in my way!' The short girl shrieked. "Ill kill her if I have to." With those words her voice was ice and her face went dark. Pansy turned on her heel and walked out of the Slytherin commons making sure to slam the portrait hard behind her.

Why did women have do be so difficult? Draco gave a sigh and walked up into the boys dorms to find Theo. "Hey." Draco said, his voice causing the boy to look up.

"What do you want?" The brunette sneered. "Come to try and preach all of us snakes to the light side?" Draco gave a soft sigh. It was common knowledge that Theo's dad was a Death Eater and that on his 17th birthday the boy would follow in his fathers footsteps.

"No I came to talk to my friends. Just because she is my mate doesnt mean I've changed. No, I will not be a Death Eater but I'm not going to force any of you to do anything, nor am I going to shun you because you are on the dark side." His soft words caused Theo to look up. The Slytherin gave a sigh and sat down on the bed, shoulders slumped. The Veela sat down next to him looking at the ground.

"Where is everyone?" Draco asked surprised to find the Slytherin dorms so quiet. Most weekend the snakes were throwing parties or games down in the commons. Because they had been shunned by the rest of the school, all of the snakes had become close, looking after one another. They had all realized early on that they could only rely on each other.

"Blaise moved out a couple days ago. He said it was a Head Boy thing but I dont think he is telling us everything. He told me to meet him down by the lake tonight and to tell you and Potter when I saw you. Didn't tell me much just that it's important." Draco raised an eyebrow. Blaise had been Head Boy for awhile now, why was he just moving out? The Veela gave a shrug knowing he would find out tonight.

"Pansy had been an unholy terror. Running around screaming about how we need to go save you from the mudblood. I think she's lost it mate." Draco gave a small chuckle and clapped Theo on the back.

"That ship had long since sailed." The paired shared a laugh, bright smiles on their faces. It felt good to be back in his old dorms laughing with his friend again. After that the uneasiness that had been hanging above them quickly disappeared and they were laughing and having a good time.

"Viola Richmond asked me to go to Hogmeade with her." Theo said after the boys stopped laughing about the time they had pranked Pansy and had made her only be able to bark for an entire day. That they had gotten inspiration from the Weasley twins when they made Ron's homework into a dog and it ate itself.

"Wow congrats! She is hot!" Draco smiled but it faded with Thoe's shrug.

"To be honest mate I dont know if I'm all that into girls." Draco gave one of his perfectly raised eyebrows but didn't freak out, which was the reaction Theo had expected.

"What makes you think that?" The blonde asked. Of course he didnt care if Theo was gay but he just wanted to know if his friend was sure.

"2 weeks ago during breakfast, I was thinking to myself and then I watched Dean Thomas get up and I thought to myself 'Man he has a nice butt.' and then I just started noticing things like that on guys and not girls. When I would snog with a girl I found it gross and would often picture it was a guy. I dont know I just dont find girls attractive anymore." He shrugged and looked down at his hands.

"Well man to each his own right? But promise me I wont see you snogging with Dean Thomas? You can do so much better." The blonde chuckled causing Theo to relax.

"So how is Potter? Is she anything like her brother?" Draco gave a dreamy smile at the thought of his mate.

"She is perfection Theo. Every second I'm with her is the best of my life. Everything about her makes my heart melt. I lov..." Draco stopped at the gagging noises Theo made.

"God mate I meant how is she in bed! Dont go all mushy on me." He laughed but Draco was somewhere else. The Veela was tuned out lost in thought. Theo gave a small smile and checked the time. It had been about an hour since Draco had come down to the doors. The Slytherin waved a hand in front of the Veela's eyes, snapping him back into reality.

"You need to go see her dont you?" He asked the smile still on his face. Draco gave a nod barely able to concentrate on Theo. He had been away from his mate too long and he could feel his Veela instincts kick in.

"Well what are you waiting for? Go get her Romeo." With his words the Veela stood and briskly walked out the door but he didnt get far. When he opened the door his little mate was standing there, arm raised to knock on the door. As soon as Draco saw her, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close.

"I missed you." He whimpered pitifully. Avery just burrowed herself into him, trying to get as close as possible. Theo wince and turned around. God someone kill him now! But he couldnt help but smirk. He couldnt wait to have that, and he didnt care what Draco said Dean was hot and Theo wanted him.

Truth


"Do you know what it is?" Avery asked Draco for the millionth time. When they pair was reunited they did some much needed snuggling and snogging before talking about their hour apart. When both found out the meeting at the pond was between Blaise and Hermione, interests peaked. As far as either of them knew the pair had barely any contact in their seven years of going her. Daco gave a small chuckle at his mate, leading her through the grass out to the lake. The moon was up and it sent a silvery glow across the Hogwarts land making things feel mystic and wondrous.

"No love for the hundredth time I dont know. Calm yourself you will find out soon." But his words were vain for his tiny mate was bouncing along next to him desperate to find out what was going on. When they reached the lake they were met by Harry,Ginny, and Theo who had been waiting. The mystery pair had yet to be seen. Everyone was anxious, wanting to know what all of this was about. Finally 2 shadows figures could be seen walking towards the lake. When they were close each that the moon lit their faces the group saw it was Hermione and Blaise, but something was wrong, they were holding hands.

"Im glad you could make it mate." Blaise said to Draco, ignoring the boys raised eyebrow. The Italian looked over at Theo who's jaw was wide open and face was pale. Hermione glanced over at her friends and offered them a soft smile.

"I know you are all dying to know what is going on so no games I'm just going to tell you. Harry, Ginny the day you guys got back together I was so happy for you, but it hurt me to see you guys so happy and to know my relationship with Ron was all a lie." Harry's face fell and he stepped forward to say something but the lioness put a hand up to stop him.

"Do not dare apologize Harry James Potter. There was nothing you could have done. Anyways I was wondering the halls and Blaise found me. He comforted me and held me as I cry which I thought was a bit odd but I needed a shoulder so I toke. Later I asked him why he was being so nice and he said he didnt know, that he felt a tug inside him when I started hurting and went to find what he needed to. When he saw me he said he felt the need to protect me, then we kissed." Hermione ignored the gasp and then cough of Theo, but Blaise clapped him on the back giving a soft smile. "When we kissed it was electrifying and when we pulled away a Lover's Mist surrounded us." The curly haired girl stopped to hear what her friends had to say. For a moment everyone was silent.

"But that only happens with..." Harry stammered, the words fading at his lips. Thankfully Ginny was there to fill in for her dumbstruck boyfriend.

"Soul Mates! Oh Hermione I'm so happy for you." A bright smile lit up the red heads face. "That is amazing! Thats some of the purest love you can have." Ginny gave a sigh and had a far away look in her eyes. "I always dreamed about having a Soul Mate." Harry gave a look at his girlfriend that caused everyone to chuckle a little.

"Well I'm happy for ya mate." Draco spoke for the first time since the new couple had come to the lake. Blaise his friend a bright smile, and pulled Hermione a little closer to him.

"I finally understand how ya feel mate." The SLytherin sighed softly looking down at Hermione with loving eyes. He leaned down and nuzzled her cheek softly, which Hermione gladly leaned into. The romance was broken by a loud cough by Theo.

"Well since everyone is here and we are sharing stuff I might as well tell ya'll but I swear Gryffindorks if this leaves this group I will drown all of ya'll with my bear hands." The boy growled, shooting a dark look at the red and gold house members.

"Dont worry our lips are sealed." Ginny said with a smile. Harry still stared at his girlfriend with a lost look on his face. Theo gave a deep sigh and closed his eyes. For several minutes he was silent, and Draco was about to ask him if he was ok but then he spoke.

"Im gay." He only uttered the two words, and then started chewing on his lower lips nervously. Everyone was silent for a moment not knowing what to say. Draco was the only one with a unsurprised look. The boy sat there waiting for his friends to say something and quickly grew impatient with the silence.

"Well bloody say somethin!" He yelled in an alost desperate tone. Avery finally broke the silence.

"Well Theo I know I speak for all of us Gryffindors when we say we really dont care all that much? If youre gay youre gay we accept that and we arent going to think of you any differently because we barely knew you to begin with. I feel like this is more for Draco and Blaise." The other lions nodded in agreement with the young girls words. The raven haired beauty looked up at her mate trying to read his emotionless face.

"Mate I already knew and you know my answer on this. I dont care, youre one of my closest mates and just because you like guys doenst mean thats going to change." The Veela finally said. Blaise was shocked to find out his friend already knew. Finally the Italian met Theo's wide worried brown eyes.

"Its a bit of a shock mate but I'm with everyone else. Just please dont let me catch ya snogging with some guy." Blaise wrinkled his nose at the thought but a wide smile spread across Theo's face. He gave a long relieved sigh.

"I was so scared ya'll were gonna hate me." He confessed looking up at his friends. Draco responded with a roll of the eyes and clapped Theo on the back.

"Sorry mate you're stuck with us." His playful banter caused everyone to smile and the mood to lift. Everyone stood together happy and smiling. The break between Slytherin and Gryffindor was slowly starting to heal with the new couples and the unity between the group.

"Come on lets go back to our dorms, we want to show you guys around. Ill have Dobby bring us some hot coco and cookies." Hermione said, Blaise's arm now wrapped around her, holding her close to him.

Augustus

"Draco what is it?" Draco smiled at his tiny mate as he led her through the halls, one of his ties around her eyes so she couldnt see.

"Just a few more minutes and you will find out." He was excited. It was almost Christmas break and Avery would be meeting his mother for the first time. She would have met her earlier but Lucius had done his best to stall his wife for as long as possible, but now that the holidays were here their time was up. For weeks he had wondered how to make things more enjoyable for her at his home. Avery was used to the coziness of the Borrow with tons of people surrounding her, and the Malfoy Manor was far from cozy. Then the idea hit him in the face, quite literally. One day he was in the library and a First Year chucked a book at his head. The Veela would have burned the little brats head off but then he saw the cover, Breeds of Dogs. His mate had said she had always wanted a dog, it was perfect!

Draco had spent weeks planning, researching, and looking for the perfect dog for his mate. Finally when he saw the silver dog he knew it was meant to be. Now the Veela led his mate out of the main doors and to the side yard. There was snow falling, landing in her dark curls making her look like some kind of snow angel. When he led her to the spot he untied the tie, allowing her to see. At first she sat there looking at the untouched snow, curiosity clear on her face. Draco gave a smirk and let out a whistle. Soon a large silver dog came bounding towards them.

When he saw his mate's eyes light up Draco felt his heart skip a beat. Everything about her was so beautiful. The girl sunk to her knees laughing as the dog pushed her to the ground and assaulted her face with wet sloppy kisses.

"Is he mine Draco?" She asked hopefully after she had got the dog off of her, and he was no sitting happily at her feet.

"Of course my love! He is one of your many Christmas presents..." He was cut off short by his mates arms wrapping tightly around him. Draco wrapped his arms around her and held her close.

"I love you." She mumbled into his neck. Draco smiled but held back a whimper when she started kissing and nibbling at his neck softly. Reluctantly Draco pulled away, rubbing the soon to be purple mark on his neck.

"He is a Weimaraner. When I saw he was silver I just had to get him. They had named him Jack but I changed it to a name of Malfoy standards, he is now known as Augustus." The dog looked up at the sound of his name, his little tail thumping on the hard ground. A beautiful thick green collar with silver detailing circled his neck, and 3 charms hung from it. One was a silver A, the other was a tiny yet detailed shield, and the last was the Malfoy crest.

"The A is a tracking charm so we will always know where he is, the shield has strong protection charms on him so no one can hex him, and the Malfoy crest shows his ownership. He is a trained guard dog so he will be with you at all times that I am not. I've talked to the teachers and he is allowed to accompany you around school, and you can let him out at every meal and once before bed." Avery smiled wide up at him and bent down to rub the dog again.

"He is amazing Draco." She cooed, kissing the dogs nose softly.

"His eyes are stunning." The words were true for the Weimaraner the had crystal blue eyes that the breed was so well known for.

Avery sat curled up in one of the armchairs, a large book in her lap, reading. The fire crackled softly and set a warm glow across the cold room. Augustus sat at her feet chewing happily on a large bone the House Elves brought with dinner. Draco was out with Theo starting lord knows what kind of trouble. Avery sighed setting the boo down, unable to stand reading about the Goblin Wars for even one more second. She drummed her fingers on the armrest thinking about what she could do.

"Come on Gus, lets go outside." The lioness stood and wrote Draco a note telling him she was outside, in case he got home before she was back. She grabbed her winter cloak and put on her shoes. Girl and dog raced down the halls to the front doors of the castle.

The moon was full in the sky once again, and set a silver mist across the snowy grounds. Augustus had his nose in the ground and was running around, enjoying the open space. Avery had always loved the grounds during the winter. They looked like something out of a book or a movie. She didnt pay much attention to where she was going and when she looked up she was at the now frozen lake.

She stood there looking out at the lake quietly. Suddenly a hand grabbed her and pulled her around. Her body tensed up and her heart was in her throat.

"Stupify." Was the last thing she heard but not before she saw fiery red hair. Avery fell to the ground, black hair spread around in the white snow. Augustus watched his owner fall barking loudly but no one heard him because of the silencing charm that had been cast upon him. The assailant scooped up the limp lioness and carried her into the Forbidden Forest. And then the night was silent again.

Draco was sitting in the Slytherin commons laughing with Theo. Suddenly the sickening smell of cheap perfume came to his nosed and his mood was dampened.

"Oh Dray...." A seductive cat called. Theo gave a smirk and Draco rolled his eyes. He turned around to see Pansy with a skirt she should have not been wearing and her pug faces covered in makeup. It looked more like paint to him.

"What in bloody hell to you want now woman?" Draco's voice was agitated. He didnt want her here. His time was almost up with being away from Avery. He could feel his tug yearning for her. The Slytherin girl slinked forward, standing in front of him.

"Why do you sound so agitated Dray? Maybe you need to loosen up again." She leaned down placing her hands on his shoulders. Her cleavage shoved into his face. Draco heard a snicker from Theo but wrinkled his nose, pushing the girl off.

"Pansy to I need to spell this out for you? Back off!" The Veela growled. His words didn't seem to effect Pansy cause she bent down again. This time Draco's lips were smashed against her's. Her hands gripped his shirt yanking him forward. Draco felt fear run through him but it was gone within seconds. He just assumed it was because he was being mouth raped. Disgusted he pushed Pansy off and onto the floor. She gave a huff.

"Thats no way to treat your wife Dray!" A smile crossed her face and she stood. Theo just rolled his eyes. She really had lost her marbles! Draco couldnt help but give a snort.

"You my wife?! Are you mad! Im with Avery." But a smile just spread farther across Pansy's dog like features.

"Not after tonight. I provided the distraction. Your little Gryffindor girl should be long gone by now." Her words struck horror through Draco's heart. He searched for her bond but he found it silent. It was there but it was small and it was not responding. In seconds his large black wings were out, fury boiled his blood. He grabbed Pansy by the throat and pushed her screaming against the wall. Her face went purple to match her makeup.

"What did you do to her!" He roared. Talons started to grow and their sharp tips pierced Pansy's plump skin. She kicked gasping for air.

"Mate she can't tell you if she's dead!" Theo yelled now on his feet. Draco gave a growl and dropped her to the ground. She gasped for air, tears running down her face.

"Weasel. We made a deal. She takes that flea mutt out every night like clock work. I promised to distract you and he would take the mudblood. After she is gone for awhile you would fall for me and he could do what ever he wanted with the mutt." Draco would have torn her apart if Theo didn't hold him back.

"Mate, killing her isn't going to do anything. Lets get your father and Snape. We will find her." Draco gave another snarl and ripped himself from Theo. He stormed out of the common room not looking back to a crying bleeding Pansy who was screaming his name.

Cold. That was the first thing Avery felt when she woke up. The it was pain. Her head pounded inside her skull. The world started to focus and she sat up looking around. It looked like Hagrid's hut but with some major flaws. One instead of seeing the warm half giant she saw a bundle of bright red hair. Fear rose inside her, tingling in her blood. Ron was asleep in another small bed across the room. Avery quietly stood but was quickly cut short. A metal collar was chained around her neck and attached to the wall. She would feel the magic buzzing off of it so it was obvious it was charmed.

Avery reached out for Draco but felt nothing but a faint warmth. The collar! She could feel the cold metal between her and Draco's bond. A small chuckle came from across the room. Wild eyes turned back to meet the smiling face of Ronald Weasley.

"DO you honestly think I'm that dumb? I knew you would try to contact the prick so I blocked the signal." A purple mist flooded in through the windows and soon a white tigress lunged at Ron. He didnt flinch as the tiger was jerked backwards.

"I remembered your little tiger form after our last visit." He pointed to the raised scarred surface of the right side of his face. "So I charmed the necklace. It grows and shrinks with you. It was withstand even a giant's strength." Avery's emerald eyes stared at him with a cold fury. He just chuckled softly.

"Not changing back? It's ok you will have to soon enough. You see he isn't coming and you cant be a tiger forever." Avery gave an angry huff and turned around to look out the window. She called out to him, screaming for him to come and get her. ALl she could see was endless miles of tree and the soft falling of snow. Behind her Ron started the stove and poured something into a pot. Miles away a blonde Veela tore apart everything he could find, desperate to find his mate. Little did either of them know that they were so much closer than they thought, they would just have to look closely.
