"Do you think your leg will ever be the same?" Dustcloud asked, trying to hide the hint of sadness in his voice for Moongaze's sake.

Skystream smiled at Skysplash, then trotted after them at a steady pace.

Badgermask nodded to Nightpaw "We will, You focus on getting back to camp, don't worry about us!" he meowed after them and then stood up straight "Alright then, move steadily, we don't know what could collapse under us." He ordered and set off towards the flames at a steady pace.

Nightshade opens her jaws to say something, but instantly snapped her jaws shut once more. Upon parting her jaws, she managed to drink in the scent of smoke. Not sure if Viperstar has scented it, she calls out to the tom. "Viperstar! I scent smoke in the distance!" She mews as her gaze already starts to scan the area for rising smoke.

Milknose looked over at the flames and back at the patrol with wide eyes, she knew how dangerous a fire could be. She had lost her mother thanks to the deadly flames when she had just turned seven moons, Milknose and her father were never the same after that incident and it still weighed heavy in her heart ever since. Milknose grimaced nodded at Badgermask, now wasn't the time to reflet on past memories, HawkClan was at stake here and she needed to take quick action. "Good luck, to all of you." Milknose meowed gravely, sincerely wishing for the everyone's safety. She turned towards the other cats who were already on their way back to camp and quickly caught up to them within her first couple of bounds.

MoonGaze shook his head "no, it's never going to be the same. The best that could happen is that I don't fall in another pit like last time" he said with a slight smile for reassurance "but I'll get through it hopefully"

BladeFire walked close to the front, the flames seemed to grow every second he could feel the heat already from the flames.

Dustcloud smiled. "Yeah, don't go falling into any pits 'cause someone may not be able to get you out next time!" He gave a slight chuckle, then lifted his nose slighty, frowning. "Can you smell something?" He asked, as they met up with Talonwind and Snowspirit again.

Viperstar glanced over to Nightshade, then saw whisps of smoke rising from the distance. "I smell it too!" He exclaimed. *Mouse-dung!* He thought to himself, *that's the way I sent Badgermask..* "We need to get back to camp now!" He called to the others.

"I can smell something.." Skystream called out loud to Icethorn and Skysplash.

Talonwind - on a border patrol
"Smoke!" i say my eyes wide "I can see smoke over the trees!" i say

Leafstorm - On the Moon Island Patrol
i pad forwards into the hollow with Badgermask, Foxheart and Blazefire. I lift my nose trying to scent if there are any cats other cats in the clearing, but i can smell only the acrid tang of the smoke and ash filling the air "I cant scent anything!" i say "We'll have to rely on our eyes and ears..."

Foxheart - On the Moon Island patrol
"The trees are catching fire!" i warn the others "Keep a look out for falling branches!"

Lilystream - In camp
i scent a strange smell on the air "Can anyone else smell smoke?" i call across the clearing

Skystream looked up and saw Icethorn and Skysplash leaving. "Wait!" She called out, bounding over. "Can I come with you?"

Dustcloud shook his head. "Nevermind. Viperstar must trust you if he made you head of this patrol, so I think you're doing great. Anyway, you need to get your strength back, and what better way than to go out on a border patrol?"

Fishpool trotted over to Cederpaw. "Hey, Cederpaw! Want to practise some battle moves with me? You'll be a warrior soon!" The young she-cat had gotten bored of sitting and watching the clan. "We can stay in camp and practise, if you like. There's hardly anyone around."

Cedarpaw smiled, glad to do something to get him away. "Sure!" His tail flicked happily.

Scarletfur sniffled the air. An arid tang had begun to burn at her throat. The smell seemed familiar, but she couldn't figure out what it was. She milled out, trying to identify the scent.

Fallensun grabbed a rabbit of the fresh-kill pile and padded over to the elders den. "Hello?" He meowed,"Would anyone like something to eat?"
