They grow at the exact minute you adopted them at. So if you didn't adopt them until, for example, 8:33pm, they won't change days until 8:33pm, even if other people's already grew.

They don't change right when the date rolls over, but on the same hour you adopted them. So if you adopted them right at the release time, they'll grow at the same time each day. While yours may have been adopted on the first, they evidently weren't adopted at rollover, 7pm(EST), so you'll have to wait till, whatever the time was when you adopted it.
