The vortex started spinning wildly in the dead of night, reds and yellows blending and spitting bright sparks into the darkness. The very air around it heated and grew heavy with steam and the crackling roar of a wildfire. From the center, a dark shape sprung, starkly silhouetted against the light that had given it life.
As the vortex dimmed, the Ahz called into the night with a strong, commanding cry, his head held high in a pose he obviously hoped looked dramatic, a rock star standing before his fading pyrotechnics. "Who here thinks they can keep up with me? I am Ragin, and I want to take the world by storm!"
Flipping his tail, he glared imperiously at the suitors and smirked, winking at the Ahz scattered in the crowd that he found attractive. After all, what is a star without his swooning fans, and how else to gain them but to look available?

Woo: Sensitive, pointed ears caught the tiny vibrations that Ragin's paws sent out as he emerged from the Vortex. Sharp silver eyes aimed their steady gaze at the proud newcomer. A mocking smirk pulled at the right corner of pale lips. Onyx eyebrows raised at the Ahz's remark about taking the world by storm. The storm elf rolled her eyes at his arrogant glower and flirtatious wink.
They say that "opposites attract," and this elf and Ahz had very little in common, though the things they had in common were very much so. He was a feisty blaze of arrogance, while she was a witty flash of lightning. He would rage and roar and his temper would burn, but she would give her enemy a mocking smirk and devise a tricky plan for vengeance.
So, since opposites attract, Erian could not help but try to lure Ragin into her world of danger and fame. After all, the wildest rogue needed a partner in crime, and who better than the other side of her coin? Fire and ice, eruption and storm, together, they would take the world by storm - quite literally.
The black-haired girl stood up and ran swiftly and silently along the rim of the blanket of clouds that lay on the edge of the large clearing. From there, she gracefully leapt onto a smaller cloud that had detached from the multitude above it, sending a sudden and heavy shower of freezing rain into the shadows below. When the brief deluge ceased, Erian rode the cloud over to Ragin and stopped above him. She swung her back and head over the edge, hanging on to the gray puff with her strong but slender legs. She found herself facing the back of Ragin's head.
"Hello, not-so-handsome," she addressed him with another one of her many smirks. "How's your storm going? Or, perhaps I should say 'not going.' The closest rainstorm is —" She paused to sniff the air. "— about ten miles north and west of here. But if you really want a storm... you could say they're my forte. Wherever I go, I leave a tempest in my wake. I have a thousand enemies, a thousand fans, and twice that many 'fanemies.' I have, in all respects, literally taken the world by storm. So, if it's a storm you want, come with me, and it's a storm you'll get."
She swung back up onto the cloud, promptly zapped Ragin's behind with a mild bolt of lightning, and rode away laughing. Even if Ragin decided against accompanying her on her wild excursions, there was no way he'd ever forget this elf, and there was no way Erian would ever forget the look on his face when she shot that lightning at him.
Is that bit about the look on his face okay? If it's too much like controlling him, I'll remove it. :)
