[okii c:]
Star woke up slowly, deliciously, like the sun rising over the horizon. She stretched, every part of her feeling numb from having curled up in the same position for so long. Kelly was gone; for a split second panic overtook her before her rational mind kicked in. /He probably just went to do something. He wouldn't just leave, would he...?/ The thought spurred her off the couch and to the kitchen. He wasn't there either. Had he gone home? He hadn't left a note...

Star looked around in surprise as she heard her name called; Kelly. Where was he...? Her gaze fixed on the window, the curtains drawn loosely. /Is he... outside?/
Carefully, she navigated over to the window and peeked outside.
/ohmygod/
For a second she felt herself transported back to her younger self's world; to one of the few happy memories of her youth, back when she had sang to herself while digging in her little garden, in tune with the birds sipping from the birdbath. Except Kelly was there, so it couldn't be just a dream. Could it?
She felt her heart beat fast and before she knew it--
/i need to
be there/

Starfish stumbled slightly, leaning heavily on the window and then abruptly jerked the curtains shut, closing her eyes for a second. Suddenly, the cottage seemed tiny and confining; memories, long suppressed, rushed by her ears like she was being swallowed whole. Somehow, blindly, she made her way to the door, fumbling with the doorknob, running out the back door onto the porch and
the wind on her face
like something from another world
she could have cried.
