Since the interest seems to have died down, I'm setting the end date for the sixteenth. That's this upcoming Sunday.

I'll gladly enter! ^^ Is there any limit? I just don't want to craft 5000 words and then be told the limit was 4999 or something.

Hah, no limit. There IS a 600 word minimum, but that shouldn't be a problem. (:

The Story of Vry
About 865 Words

---

Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there lived a boy by the name of Vry. Vry lived with his parents in the ruins of a small settlement near the ocean. A long time ago, there had been many people living here, but a harsh winter had forced them to migrate to warmer lands. Vry’s family had accidentally been left behind, so now they lived all alone, barely finding enough food to keep themselves alive. And one day, Vry had enough of this life and decided to leave his parents.

You can probably guess that his parents weren’t too happy, since Vry was their only son, and without him they would be quite lonely. But Vry had made his mind up, and on a warm, sunny day he left those ruins, never to return. He traveled to the nearest city, which took him almost a year, and there he looked around and tried to find a job. But everyone was rude to him and ignored his requests to work for them. Many were so cruel to him that often tears started rolling down his cheeks, and when they called him a baby, he would run away and hide in the allies and cry. After a long and miserable search, Vry gave up and settled in the outskirts of the city, not wanting to go home again. His heart had grown evil, for he had never seen the cruelty of people before as he had in the city, and he swore to get revenge on all who had been so mean to him. And one night, while he was in a small tavern, he found the way to do this.

When he had wandered in, he had immediately noticed the darkly cloaked stranger sitting in the corner. Being as curious as he was, he went over and introduced himself. When the cloaked figure had looked up, Vry had shrunk back a little at the sight of the deep black eyes, hooked nose, and cruelly twisted mouth of the stranger. But he stayed, and the stranger had said in a deep, gravelly voice, „Not many are brave enough to dare greet me. I presume you know not who I am?“ When Vry had shaken his head, the stranger laughed and said, „Then know now: I am the Necromancer, the Raiser of the Dead and the Creature of the Dark and the Spirit-Whisperer. Fear me, for I have more power than you have ever dreamed of!“

And Vry had indeed been quite scared, but here was the chance he had hoped for: to get revenge on all who had been cruel to him. So he asked, quietly, „Will you take me as an apprentice?“ It was a silly thing to do, he knew, but he didn’t care, for he had no life in him anymore. And then, to his surprise, the man stared deep into his eyes and he felt something change in him. For the first time, he felt the blackness and evilness of his heart, but he was proud of it. And the Necromancer nodded his approval and said, „I will take you as the Apprentice.“

From that day on started Vry’s lessons as a necromancer. For five years and five days he learned how to summon spirits and beasts and how to reincarnate different creatures and people and how to fight with his new skills and much, much more. He caught himself two ravens and kept them as his own, and after a while, he could send them out and look through their eyes and hear what they heard. And at the end of his apprenticeship, his heart had gone, for no true Necromancer has a heart. The Necromancer left him with a true Necromancer’s staff and a locket that signified him as a Necromancer, and then he left.

Vry could finally do what he had been waiting to do for so long. For many nights he created the incantation needed to do what he wanted, and then he drew 203 pentacles, placed candles around them, and burned special herbs to contain the necromancy. All this he did in a cave the Necromancer had showed him. At last, he chanted the hour long incantation he had memorized, and a spirit appeared in each of the pentacles. He commanded them to seek out every single person that had been cruel to him in that city, and then he released them.

They howled through the streets, frightening children and crashing though all sorts of things, and captured each and every one of the people that had been cruel to Vry. And then they dragged them, screaming and kicking, back to their master. He remembered very single one of the people, and what every single person had done. After he had returned the spirits to their spirit world, he thought of what to do with these people. And he quickly decided to turn them all into spirits so he could use them as servants, which meant he would have to kill them. So he spoke the incantation to kill them all, and then there were none left in the cave. Well, from his view point, at least. For he had mispronounced one word, killing him instead of the others. And so ended Vry, who had started out only as the son of two now grieving parents.

The story of Mysfit:
This is the story of Mysfit the Skeleton PPS. This is an Original story written by Me, Godiva. Please do not use or take.
One night in the land of CS, all the pets were preparing for their special holidays. The skeletons all gathered together for halloween, cackling and rattling their bones. The bunnies hoped and chattered for Easter, and all sorts gathered for Christmas, where they laughed, drank hot cocoa, and sang carrolls all through the night.

Mysfit was excited, it was the first year she would be old enough to choose which holiday she would represent on CS. After she chose, she would stick with that group for the rest of her life. Her parents were both proud members of the Halloween event, and she had dreamed since she was a pup of proudly joining their ranks. She would jump out at other pets, scare them out of their minds, then fade back into the shadows. Her parents had taught her how to do this, and she was quite skilled. She was the only pup her age who could join this year in fact. THe others had to wait behind for they could not scare as well as she could. Her parents were very proud of her, and often spent much of their time preparing her. She knew they wanted her to join the Halloween group more than anything!

She watched all the groups gathered together. She stared at the nightmare clan for a long time. They were a summer event, and while they did specialize in scares, they weren't her type. They were the terrible kind that came in dreams, and left you shivering in the morning. She jumped back at the very thought. For in truth, Mysfit didn't really like scaring, or hurting others. She had a soft heart. Her parents had persuaded her as she was a pup that Halloween scares only lasted for a moment, and then the others would run off laughing, so she was alright with that.

"Come along Mysfit" Her fathers large stature stood over her. She smiled up at him proudly. He had the largest skeleton of any wolf in all of CS. If he had normal muscle and fur like other dogs, he would be bigger than the malk horses themselves! Mysfit hurried through the streets of CS. She didn't want to be late for the very first meeting of her CS career! As she ran along her father and her practiced their scares. Her father didn't really need to practice, but he did it with her, since he knew she was nervous. They jumped at some lionesses that were making their way to dream world. They shrieked and crashed backwards, only to burst into laughter. Mysfit smiled. She like making pets laugh! Halloween was going to be a fun event!
As they ran off into the shadows, she pointed towards a group of bunnies, who were making their way to Easter. "Them too dad?" She whipsered, but was shocked when he shook his head! He never turned down a scare! "Not tonight hun, we'll be late!"

But there was something else in his eye when he looked at her, that made her stop for a moment. As he bounded on ahead, she glanced back at the bunnies. "This will only take a moment, I won't be late!" She thought assuredly to herself. She carefully placed herself, so that when they came forward, she could leap out of the shadows, and they would only see her skull and hallow black eyes. She chuckled to herself, remembering the lionesses laughter, and prepared for the scare.
To her shock however, the bunnies didn't laugh. They drained of all color, and fled away. She cocked her head. "That's odd!" She thought, "they seemed really terrified! And they didn't laugh" She frowned, and felt a tear running down her cheek, realizing she had really scared them. "I... I didn't mean to! They always laugh!" She went running after them, she would apologize, tell them she didn't mean to! As she rounded the corner, she saw they had stopped. One of them was sobbing with fright, while the others tried to comfort her. "It's okay! It was just a Halloween pup. It's gone now" Out of the corner of her eye, she saw another dog. This one was jet black. She recognized it as a Black Advent, part of the Christmas group. It was sneaking up on the bunnies! Didn't it see they were scared? She was about to run forward and yell STOP! But she was too late! The black dog lept from the shadows in front of the bunnies.

She waited for them to start screaming again, but they didn't. For in his mouth the black dog held candy canes, which he was giving them. The bunnies started laughing, and as the dog started singing carrols, they soon joined in and happily bounced down the street. Mysfit smiled, glad they weren't upset anymore. The way he made them laugh.. It was true Christmas spirit, not the way the other dogs and lionesses laughed when she jumped out at them!

Then she realized! Dogs and lionesses!! That was it! Her parents had always had her practice on big strong animals that wouldn't be afraid of her! So she would never see how normal animals were hurt by the scares! Sadly she shook her head. She should have known! Her father hadn't wanted her to scare the bunnies because he knew she was soft! He knew that if she saw the way they were, she would never accept the job of a Halloween pup.

She slowly made her way back to the Home Page of the CS land, its where all the important meetings took place. All the groups were gathering with their candidates. She knew how it worked, she had watched it several times. Each group would take turns presenting the pets that were to join. Then the pet would place his/her paw on magic ink, and place it on a scroll, that would bind them to that group forever. She slid in with the other Halloween candidates and watched as the summer events went first, then easter. Now it was Halloweens turn. She knew everyone in the Halloween group was waiting for her turn, they were all proud of their young protege. She owed this to them. They called her name. Her father, holding his head high, walked up to the podium with her, grinning proudly at his pup.

She numbly turned to the large crowd watching her. She saw all the other Halloween animals grinning at her, as the speach began. "Ladies and gentlemen, here we have a young pup who has proven herself worthy above all others..." The speech faded into the backround as she stared at the magic ink that would decide her fate. "And now, without further ado," the scroll started to float toward her, she was running out of time! "Um, I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen, but I have something to say." The owl who had been speaking stopped abruptly mid sentence, and every eye turned to her. It wasn't unheard of, many young animals decided they were unprepared, and backed down, but no one expected it from the number one protege!
"Ehem. Ladies and Gentlemen, we're gathered here to watch many of the young pets on CS decide their careers. For all my life I have believed that Halloween was the place for me. But, I just don't think I'm ready to make this decision... Not yet. Earlier today I realized I just don't have it in me to scare weaker and timider animals. So therefor, I would like to resign from my position, until next year, to fit in a bit more training." She hung her head sadly, as a murmer of dispute broke out from the crowd. Her parents scowled at her in disbelief. "After all her training" Her father growled. "After everything she's been through!" "After all we've done for her!" "The ungrateful!" Bits and pieces of angry muttering floated through her ears. She climbed down the stage. She knew if she had a face like normal animals, it would be bright red. Normal clans supported their candidates no matter what! But not Halloween! All they cared about was their image! They didn't care if they embarassed her infront of all CS! A tear ran down her cheek as she fled into a side forum of CS. It was dark here, and there were no crowds to stare at her. She was safe.

In the dim light she saw a black wolf come out of the darkness. The BA that had comforted the bunnies. He smiled comfortingly at her, and held out a candy cane. Mysfit smelled the sweet sugar longingly, they never had many sweets in Halloween, as they wre too busy working to collect candy. But she didn't have an apatite. "You know" He said gently. "I think that was very wise, and brave! Many pups can be presured into things, and I know it was hard. But I saw what happened with the lionesses, and the bunnies.." "But h-how?" He laughed. "I'm a black advent, I can see everything without anyone seeing me. I saw how you only wanted them to laugh... Maybe you just aren't meant to be a Halloween pup!" Mysfit stared at the ground. "Yeah yeah. I'm no good for anything, guess I fit my name." another tear fell from her eye. She wanted to bury her head in the ground. She wanted to run away from this mean BA! "No no no! That's not what I mean!" He cried earnestly, "I just thought you could do better in a job that you enjoy. Like me. They expected me to join the nightmares, but I just wanted to spread joy. So they accepted me at Christmas, they won't turn anyone down, and it's the best job! You get to" The rest of his rambling was drowned out by Mysfits thinking. She remembered this wolf. Last year he had joined the Christmas lineup late. But had looked so happy! "D-d-do you think they'd even take me?" The wonderful thought soared through her. She could spread the real Christmas joy! To everyone!

Then she looked at herself in a peice of glass on the ground. She was a skeleton! Who would want her? The only thing she was good for was scaring, and she couldn't even do that! But the BA jumped up all excited! "I KNEW you would say that! I just knew it! I could sense the Christmas Spirit in you! All you want is to make pets happy! That's what we're looking for in the Christmas department! Christmas is about joy, and giving joy! And I just know they have to take you!"
Mysfit smiled happily. The two of them raced through the streets, pushing themselves to run past their speed limits. They had to make it in time! They burst into the Home Page just as the last Christmas Candidate was taking the stage. The Christmas owl made the traditional speech, and they brought out the scroll. The BA pushed her forward. "Go on!" He urged. "We're running out of time!" But he noticed she was to scared to move. She had just been in front of this crowd, and they had rejected her! He knew he wouldn't be able to go back in front of them alone!

In a split second he had rushed onto the stage. Right before they turned the lights off. "Everyone!" he shouted. "I would like to introduce you to a new candidate!" There was murmering and gasps at this! A new candidate? Seconds before the end? It was unheard of! "This pup has true Christmas spirit. She loves to spread joy, and she just wants to find a place in the hearts of those she reaches out to. She's exactly what the Christmas department is looking for, and I know that we will be honored to have her in our ranks for all the years to come!" He smiled and beckoned to Mysfit, who felt the first true smile she ever had reach her lips. With a big bound she jumped up onto the stage. She faltered for a moment, thinking the sound reaching her ears was more boos. But it was applause. The entire Christmas department was giving her a standing ovation, cheering her on.
Blushing, she unwaveringly placed her paw in the magic ink, and then onto the scroll that would decide her future. The cheers could be heard all over CS. For little Mysfit had finally found a place that loved and accepted her. She finally had a true friend in the BA, who would stay by her side for the rest of their lives, and she finally found a home. She found, Christmas.
