augustus may, nineteen year old history student who's been stuck in a rut for a while now. he was born in cambridge tennessee to tyler and veronica may. four years later his little sister eliza was born and then came serena a year later. growing up four years senior to two little girls wasn't easy, but it was what happened. nothing he could control, of course he dreamed about having a little brother to play catch with and hang out with, but instead he got two little girls. eliza and serena seemed to hate each other, but often found joy in tormenting gus. he often found comfort in his father, spending time working on his car and helping him do manly things. that is until tyler left. it happened when he was nine. eliza was five and serena barely four. his mom was ruined. she spent nights crying and crying, she had to get a job and try to support a family of four on one pay check. it wasn't a walk in the park, but most of his life wasn't. he picked up a job when he was sixteen, bagging groceries at the local market. he tried to save as much money as possible, but temptations were always lurking. going to the movies or buying a new sweater, when he finally graduated and was accepted to a university in new york he used all of his savings and applied for several loans, and now here he was. living in new york city and trying to get a degree in what he loves, history. everything was going great, and than he hit a wall. everything seemed purposeless. hopefully something will help him get out of this rut. something will help him get back on track. he's come so far.
