Just these 3 for now [but I have more] Thanks ;3
Can't wait for the other ones. Though my reviews will sound rather...harsh (I apologize) I am grateful for you sending in some names I haven't gotten to completely cover before. Surprisingly, you'd be the first -path I've gotten, despite it being common place.
SilentsoundName Rating: 2/10
Name Type: Lyrical
Name Reasoning: Aside from the prefix and suffix completely contradicting each other, neither are accepted as traditional. Even if she was named for her quietness - which, spoiler, doesn't even matter unless it's useful - she's got fur that she could be easily named for and identified by. Any number of images pop up when you say "Silent-". The cat could be black or calico or golden or brown, big or small. Picture, for a moment, that you're a cat who knows nothing about Silentsound. You couldn't exactly pick them out of a line of cats, could you?
The reason we pick names in traditionalism is for practicality. Silent- may explain that she likes to be quiet, but unless it's useful (like for hunting), then there's no point in having it. Besides, describing a skill is for the suffix, not the prefix.
I think that covers -sound, as well.
Alternative Name: Greyfur/Breamfur. Both describe a grey cat, and since she doesn't have any outstanding skills, she's stuck with -fur or -pelt (or -face, if she's rather attractive).
Character Rating: 3/10
Character Reasoning: Okay, well, here we go. I was waiting for a canon-decedent and I didn't even know it.
Here's the thing: not only is she related to a canon character (that's not even a warrior and had no signs of caring for anyone), but it's one of the largest and most popular villains of the entire series. One of the biggest no-nos in all of character creation is to not have your fan character be a daughter/son/grand-kid/sibling of a canon character, mostly because it's out of left-field, it's pointless, and it's pretty annoying. Your character doesn't need to do that to be interesting - not special, interesting.
This is something that a lot of youngsters around here and DeviantArt aren't aware of. Being "special" isn't notable in and of itself. What's interesting is the character themselves. Who cares if someone's related to Squirrelflight? What does he do to make us actually like and root for him?
Besides that, your cat's traits could be fine, but they're a tad repetitive. A shy, quiet cat who's a whiz isn't necessarily bad. But when you narrow it all down, that's all that she's got. Add some more traits that don't need 6 adjectives to get the point across, but make sure they all coincide and don't contradict.
FallenskyName Rating: 2/10
Name Type: Lyrical
Name Reasoning: I need to add Fallen- to the roster of common names, but I think it goes under -fall:
-fall: This suffix has no use whatsoever. If it's supposed to mean a clumsy cat, that's unnecessary and mean. If it somehow means graceful, I'm probably going to throw you out a window.
And -sky is also nill. It doesn't describe any aspect of the cat, whatsoever. It's probably about as relevant as -wing: a living cat has no place in the sky, and the only time it's actually important is to tell time or see how StarClan is taking the gathering.
Alternative Name: Cinderpelt./Smokepelt. Cinder- and Smoke- are for grey tabbies, and like above, she's got no skills that need naming that I see.
Character Rating: 6/10
Character Reasoning: Her traits are a little all over the place. Stoic and expressionless are the same thing, and at the same time she's grumpy and uneasy? You need to focus her in one direction and then go from there.
If I were you (and right now she's just a kid so she doesn't have the ability to possess many traits), I would make her mature and quiet, with a lack of humor and dislike for company her age (as they're all young and playful, in contrast to her). She could be a little pretentious, staring down her nose at others and seeing herself as above everyone because she doesn't express too many emotions other than scorn. While she does desire some company (she's a gorram Clan cat, after all), her stand-offishness makes her unlikable and ignored, resulting in her being alone, resulting in her having no way to compare and relate to others, which results in her attitude, making it a constant cycle.
DewpathName Rating: 3/10
Name Type: Canonical/Lyrical
Name Reasoning: Dew- is roughly equivalent to Puddle- or River-, in that it's pretty nondescript. It's transparent, and it disappears as the day progresses.
As for -path, it could mean a myriad of things; the cat could follow their own path or the right one (-heart), they could be swift and agile (-foot), or they could always follow the right tracks when tracking something (-nose). It's just not useful!
Besides that, she's a skilled swimmer, so that ought to be worth something.
Alternative Name: Hailstream/Roachstream. Hail- and Roach- (the fish, not the bug) both cover a light grey tabby, and -stream denotes her skills in swimming.
Character Rating: 8/10
Character Reasoning: Her character's pretty good! I would leave out the timid and shy bits, though, if she's inquisitive. Curious cats are usually fairly bold and adventurous, but other than that, I think she's just fine.
