Rory watched Lizzie go, wondering what Lucy could want to talk to him about.
Evan was in the kitchen.

evan looked at her. "Hi! How are you?"
Rory looked at her, and sighed, explaining how the doctors didn't tell that he'd actually lived. "If I could change it I would. We're taking them to court and everything."

Lucy arched an eyebrow. "But you didn't even bother to call to see where she was? She if something was wrong? You realized that Lizzie could have died, right?" She crossed her arms over her chest. "Look, I don't want to be mad at you. I like you, and you make my sister happy. But before she knew you were alive, she came too close to leaving us on multiple occasions. You hurt her, Rory."
Lizzie smiled happily and shifted Jasper in her arms. "I'm great! How about you?"

"I would have called if I could. I was in treatments half the time and the other half was spent either throwing up or to weak to do anything," he said. "I realize all of that. I think about it all the time, and it eats at me. I know I hurt her." Rory sighed.
"I've been good," he said.

Lucy sighed and shook her head, watching him. "I know you feel bad, but honestly, is that really enough?" She ran her fingers through her hair, then looked to him again. "Look. I know what's it like to be in her shoes. I know what it's like to think that the person you love is gone. All I'm saying is that you'd better treat her like a princess from now on because she was almost destroyed, and I don't want to see that happen to her again."
Lizzie smiled at that. "Good." She looked down to Jasper. "And how about you, little man?"

"What makes you think I'd treat her like any less?!" he asked.
Jasper giggled. "Good."

Lucy sighed and shook her head. "Just trust me on this one. She seems tough on the outside, but she's so, so breakable. I didn't say you'd treat her as any less; just remember to do it. When she found out that you weren't coming home from the hospital, she lost it. She didn't speak or eat for weeks; probably didn't sleep, either. The only food we actually got her to eat was some saltine crackers and some water. So just don't let her down or anything."
Lizzie laughed. "Yeah? What've you been up to?"

Rory sighed. "Okay, okay," he said, raking his hand through his hair.
"Just playin'!" he said.
