Smith sniffed as he avoided a large pile of dung."It's been a few days since Maple died. It's probably too far gone to salvage anything."He should be grateful actually, that there was any waste to speak of. It meant that prey was starting to replenish in the area, which was certainly good for both sides. Tilting his head slightly so he could hear better, Smith held his breath for a moment."Like I said before, there's a lake a little bit south of here, and it's full of birds. We would be able to catch at least some of them, if not the majority." He stood in the clearing that they had made their way through, eyes sweeping the undergrowth."So, are you up for it? It might've been a couple of years since you've been fowl hunting, but it shouldn't be that hard to jump back in."

"Sounds great to me. The last hunting I've done was deer and rabbit, but no waterfowl for a while." Son shakes his head around, removing the cold drops on his nose. The water that suddenly pooled up around his feet startled him. "Ugh, either the land is sinking, or this is marsh."

The retriever was unimpressed by the male's enthusiasm, but at the same time, slightly pleased that there was another who could relate to him."Good. The sooner we move out and get some prey in our stomachs, the quicker Amaia'll get off my back." He glanced back as the Labrador started to sink into the mud. Snorting, he turned around and headed for the pond."Neither. The land is starting to full up with mud because it's been raining frogs, which makes walking through the marsh a pain in the arse." He called over his shoulder, taking a few more paw-steps, and then looked over his back, impatiance glinting in his eyes."Well, are you coming or not?"

"im coming im coming.." the nasty mud darkened his golden fur. he decided it would be best to pick up his feet higher. "whats Amaia's deal? she is so uptight and doesn't listen to anyone's reason. good or bad. ever since I joined when the pack first started she's been a grouchy old fool"

The retriever didn't give Son a backwards glance."Amaia can definitely be rash and impatient. She gets on my nerves most of the time- I won't deny that. But I can tell you one thing- she's a hell of a good leader. She keeps us all together when the going gets tough." With a harrumph, Smith stationed himself behind some scraggly bushes."I hate to admit it- but I don't think I would still be alive if she hadn't offered me a position in the pack." The velvet dog twitched his ears."Now, hush up. If you keep jabbering on like this, you'll scare the ducks away." His nose pointed to the small cluster of birds that had gravitated towards the center of the pond."If we are going to get anything out of this, we are going to have to work cooperatively."
