The eye being lower would help. As well as giving it a mane. Possibly make the facial marks less apparent?

Actually, instead of basing it off of someone else's drawing, try looking at a photo of a horse. It's your best bet when it comes to realism ^^

Really? Thanks I learned a little trick for that from a manupulting friend. Work your way up in colors and then smudge it,or you could do it the better way but I don't know how without my tablet,plus it turns out terrible when I do it. I'll grab one of my horse illustrated magizines and post another soon as I get more time. (more like tonight)
