"It's fine, you did amazing for just having your apprentice ceremony! If you smell the mouse well, then you're downwind, since the scent of the mouse goes towards you. If you can barely scent it, then you're upwind, you'd better find another piece of prey because then the mouse can scent you. Try again, this time." Dawnlight encouraged Mintpaw, explaining about downwind and upwind.

"Ok, thanks, I think I get it now, I can smell the mouse good, so I'm downwind?" she thought again for a moment, "Oh I guess we should go somewhere else, then?"

"Downwind is good, upwind isn't." Dawnlight explained, scent for the mouse, which was downwind at the moment.

"So, how do I catch a mouse?"

"First, you crouch down quietly, this is called a warrior's crouch. Try to keep your tail low, so the prey can't easily see you coming. You slink towards the prey, remember, one crack of a stick will startle the prey and chase it away. Be aware of whats around you, such as a stick or crunchy leaf." Dawnlight explained the warrior's crouch before doing it herself. She kept her tail low and kept her body close to the ground, fur just brushing the ground.

*crouches and keeps tail and belly close to ground slinking forward and leaps attacking a leaf*

"Wow, you've already got it! Next, you leap lightning fast and grab its neck. There are many ways you could kill some prey, but for small prey I think the fastest way is when you bite its neck. It usually automatically goes limp." Dawnlight explained. Dawnlight stalked towards a leaf and in a heartbeat, had it hanging from her jaws. "You try," the she-cat dropped the leaf.

Mintpaw crouched keeping her tail steady and slowly padded forward pouncing and riggling the leaf around, even though that was no use but she stopped and sniffed smelling a familiar scent "I smell a vole!"

"Do you think you can catch it yourself?" Dawnlight asked, surprised.
