Dawnlight led Mintpaw to the middle of camp after all the cats went back to whatever they were doing. "I know you won't be happy about this, but the first day is learning where everything in the camp is. Luckily, after I can teach you how to hunt." Dawnlight explained, turning to her apprentice.

"oh, that's okay, but at least I get to hunt!"

Dawnlight explained to Mintpaw about everything in camp. The she-cat becked to the apprentice with a swish of her tail at the entrance to camp. "Ready for hunting practice?" Dawnlight asked.

"yes!" She bounded towards the camp entrance and looked back, waiting for Dawnlight

The two walked onto the forest. "First, you need to sniff to air to see where the prey is. Then, check that you're downwind so the prey can't smell you." Dawnlight gently instructed. "Do you smell anything?" Dawnlighy asked.

"Umm.. I smell mice! Lots of them, and some other scent I don't know"

"Can you locate where a mouse is?" Dawnlight asked, she scented the air herself.

Shes sniffed the air again and pointed her ears forward "It's by that big tree over there"

"Good, can you tell if we're downwind or upwind?" Dawnlight nodded, impressed on how fast of a learner her apprentice was.
