Bluepaw sprang to Phoenix's side. "You are not useless! You are anything but useless!" he meowed, a little forceful. He calmed himself down. "Phoenix, you are not useless to the Clan. I've heard stories on how a she-cat who was half blind became one of the best fighters on her Clan. And I bet you could do just the same," Buepaw encouraged. He wanted Phoenix to stay with them. He wanted her to be with him throughout the journey. He didn't want to feel alone.

I looked away, still not convinced. "I can only see light and dark and rough outline. I don't think I'll be able to even see my opponent."

"You can learn to sense your opponent rather than see him," Bluepaw suggested. "You are a very smart cat, Phoenix. I'm sure if you put your mind to it, you could possibly do anything."

I sighed, finding no purpose to argue. "Fine, but I'm not sure if it will work," I say, looking over at him.

Ghostfang bristled. "There will be a way." He growled, staring into Swanfeather's eyes for a long moment, before turning to Bluepaw and Phoenix. He nosed her gently. "You're not useless, Bluepaw is right."

Trying to ignored Ghostfang's presence, Bluepaw continued, "Of course you have a use. You weren't brought into the world for nothing. I'll even train with you."


Swanfeather snorted, turning away from the three. If Ghostfang truly thought that StarClan could cure her sight, he was terribly mistaken. The young she-cat would have to learn to deal with her blindness. And if she worked with it, she could use it to her advantage. Swanfeather went back to sorting her herbs, her tailtip twitching.

''Would you like me to help you collect herbs Swanfeather?'' asked Moonbeam padding up to her

"And I'll help." Ghostfang added.

''What herbs do you need chervile,coltsfoot?'' Moonbeam asked

Swanfeather looked to Moonbeam. "No, thanks, Moonbeam. If I get too many herbs then I won't be able to take everything we need. So, I'd rather not have too much extra."

Bluepaw shook his head slightly, but unnoticable by anyone but himself. He didn't like being around Ghostfang. He'd rather be alone with her. He let out a sigh, unhappy. He disliked the feeling of jealousy, but he couldn't get rid of it.
