Re: Auction Rant Thread

A while ago someone offered a couple '10 uncommons, a punk store dog, and red-front Holly advent for my Grey Dragon in my auction. I was labelling the bids as 'excellent', 'great', 'fair', not-so-good', and 'poor'. To be honest, I labelled that one 'not-so-great', since it was. xD
Then the person posted, saying:

"uh how did i get a not so great i have a lot of pets on ur wishlist and a lot of rares ect. and store pets that cost actual money so hello? i deserve better"

So I told them to add more to their bid if they wanted a better raking, and that her "lots" of pets on my wishlist consisted of 1 pet. Then the next day she suddenly canceled her bid with the message:

"i think ur ripping me off and no cause this is totaly UNFAIR! ur ripping me off"

That got me kind of angry. xP

On the topic of asking way too much for autos:

I'm the same when it comes to the "I can dream, can't I?" comments. I just leave the auction be, I won't mess with them if they're unreasonable.

Seriously, do people not realize that for a VR '08 pet they're asking for, a July, August, whatever, I could find someone with that particular pet in their trades groups, add on more pets I'm wanting, and trade down very easily, with much more than they offer in their auction?

Yes, people -can- overpay in auctions. But in real life, heh, we don't always. Most of us who go to live auctions -underpay- for merchandise. For those who go to online auctions, most of us hunt and peck for the good deals, giving patience for our money. Rarely do people go for a $25.99 BIN (Buy it now) auction when there's another BIN for 15.99, or better yet, an auction that starts at $5.00.

For me at least, I'm a bargain hunter. I shop thrift stores for random bargains for fun, I compare prices on Amazon, Overstock, eBay, etc, to ensure I get the best price for my money online. I'm the same way with trades here. Why would I give my very valuable pet away for something worth -much- less than mine is?

People need to realize, yes, you can dream. But it doesn't mean it's reasonable, nor good for your auction. No, most people won't overpay. And, most people will just laugh at what you put down...and walk away.

I offered a red x pps and a balloon dog for a joker, and they said that it was unfair to their joker to be "so underpaid for"

So, so, soooo agreed, on every point.

I think I'm pretty much done with even looking at them for a while.. maybe if the cycle changes back to people not posting autos that are worth 10x the pet they are auctioning, and being reasonable about bids, I'll start looking them over again. But right now, it's just extremely annoying.

And as for "Maybe for auction" or "want to see what I would be offered for"... Don't be that person. Yoda say: Do, or do not. There is no try. ;)

About the "intelligent" autos - sometimes I go to auctions board to laugh at what people want for their pets.
Is that considered mean (of course I don't post there)?

I hae it when I see auction and the auto is way too much. Butwith some, it is reasonable, like I think mine was (My Coontail for July 08 PPS as auto.). I cancled the auction becuase I had got the pet I wanted. Yet, some people are wanting moon dogs for uncommon pets.

On the subject of over-offer-autos, here's one...
It was for one of the "common" URs, and in their opening message they tell that they know that zebras and sun dogs are worth way too much and they won't ask for them.
Then they put their auto as a moon dog or another July 08.
XD
After 11 years of seeking, I finally obtained my all-time dream on October 1, 2020 ;w;

That made me :what: .

There is a black advent auction. I offered that person a BMD as a fair swap (I sent a trade, the BMD was on their WL). They cancelled saying that nobody gives black advents nowadays.

The funny thing is I have the BMD from them and that black advent is from me
