This is an extremely old character as a starter haha, I want to revamp her so she's more accurate.

Name: Marshpool
Description: A gray she-cat with lighter gray dapples scattered around her body. She has green eyes and a gold mark on her front right paw.
Important Notes: She adores kits and apprentices, and dedicates quite a bit of her time helping them. Her mother was a warrior in the clan before her, and she has spent all of her life training to be of help to the clan. Her former mate vanished, and she was left to care for three small kits, one of which died due to a 'monster'.

Name: marshpool
Gender: She-cat
Clan: Riverclan
Rank: Deputy
Personality/Skills: She's a loyal, dedicated warrior. She excels as a mentor, and is well rounded in most subjects besides medicine. She is in no way the best at a certain skill, however. She is very commanding when its needed and never backs down from a challenge.
Important Notes: Same as above ^^

Old characters are fun to crack open. I'll do my best to help you.

Name Rating: 3/10
Name Type: Canonical
Name Reasoning: Names that connote huge environments, such as Marsh-, Mountain- or Lake-, are pretty useless as a descriptor because these areas have a lot in them. A lake, for example, has a lot of fish, and plants, and even the sand around it can vary in color. Marshes are thriving with colors: green, blue, brown, yellow, grey, etc. Picking a specific item in an environment saves a lot of time and frustration.
The -pool suffix doesn't have a specific meaning that can be easily applied. Is the cat calm and wise? Are they deep and philosophical? Maybe they're lazy or pacifistic. And pools come in a lot of different colors too, so a color name is no good.
Alternative Name: Hailflower/Thymeflower. Both prefixes subscribe to a grey cat (Hail- for a dappled, more specifically), and -flower is for a motherly cat who's very good at raising kits, which I think she is (it would definitely show up in her mentoring).

Character Rating: 9/10
Character Reasoning: I can't really see anything wrong with her. My suggestion is to go into specifics to round her out a little - her phobias, her favored prey, how quickly she can become vicious if an apprentice is bullied or a kitten threatened; what insecurities or buttons she may have, and how she reacts when they're pressed.

Thank you very much! I like both of those names and I love your reasoning behind them, I'll definitely try to sort out those types of things before I write about her again. I'll have to come back with some more characters sometime.

Please do! I really do love being able to help people with characters; OCs are pretty much my lifeblood, so it's great to see others' and actually be able to give some feedback that's asked for!

Image/Description: http://tinypic.com/r/a3i8mu/5
Name: Hollowedfire
Gender: Female
Clan: Dawnfireclan
Rank: Medicine cat
Personality/Skills: She's snappy at points to strangers and sometimes kits, but warms up easily when she gets to know them. She's a very lovable cat with the elders. She's very skilled with medicine and treating older patients, but when it comes with kits, she barely has the patients with kits. She's not very skilled in that much stuff other than medicine.
Important Notes: Nope, I don't think I have anything to put here.

Name Rating: 3/10
Name Type: Lyrical
Name Reasoning: Hollow-, in and of itself, is a pretty useless name. It doesn't have a fixed image to it, so you can't really say what the cat looks like. There is a difference between hollow and a hollow, after all, and neither are that straight-forward either. Hollows can range from an empty fallen log to a small environment, often with a variety of colors. To name a cat for having a "hollow" personality is not only pointless but mean - pointless because we still don't know what the cat looks like, and cats don't have a personality when they're born, and mean because a name should reveal the great parts of a cat, not the bad parts. Along with this, the -ed at the end is a little awkward. Plural pats of the name (-spots, Daisies-) and past-tense or adjectives (Scarred-, -legged) break up the flow of a name, which is meant to show the present state of a cat.
For a much shorter rant, -fire is equally unusable due to whatever it wants to say being said already by -storm (for a quick-tempered, fiery personality) and -foot (for a cat who seems to blaze the ground the run upon).
Alternative Name: Mottleleaf/Brightleaf. She's skilled in medicine, and thus deserves the -leaf suffix, and Mottle- and Bright- refer to her patched coat.

Character Rating: 8/10
Character Reasoning: There's not many overarching problems here, but I think the "snappy-but-sweet-later" should probably be fixed up. I've seen too many characters in my day who had that exact trait and failed to uphold it, and it's become sort of a default trait if you can't think of much else. I think that she could easily continue to be cranky no matter who she's dealing with, chasing the unhurt out of her den if they're only there to check on someone, but her skills speak volumes about her. She focuses so hard on being the best medicine cat she can be because she doesn't really like hanging out with other cats, and has always felt some kinship towards others older than her, who have grown into maturity. She could spend a lot of time around the elders to listen to their stories and keep the important tales fresh in her memory.

Thank you so much~! I'll keep this in mind! This thread is amazing, I'll show it to some of my CS friends that roleplay Warriors ~ Thanks again!
