Gavin sighed and rubbed his nose, waving her away with his other hand.
"I'm not 'ere to kill you. Sides, now I'm curious, so wait a second and I'll get to you." He leaned over the bar and nodded to Roderick. "Aven't seen you in years, since... Grimsby?" The inn-keep grinned a crooked smile and chuckled.
"Yeah, it was." He sucked on his lip and continued,
"So what does the all-mighty Laird of Duart need with me?"
Gavin snorted and muttered, "You know what. What's the mood of the people, how is the new tax perceived, and where in the seven hells are these threats coming from?"
Roderick picked at an old scar on his hand and scowled. "Gloomy, badly, and how should I know? Everyone comes in here's too busy stockpiling for winter. Or at least trying to, with whatever coin they can scrape together after the tax-men come through. Sorry I can't help more, but I'm busy here, especially with the street rats trying to swindle me out of rent."
Gavin shook his head, frustrated, but leaned back and thanked the man. He turned back to the girl, Aduno, and narrowed his eyes.
"Again, who are you? And what was that you did? Teleporting?"
