The rats are based on Bismuth, the artist confirmed it:

Go right ahead, they are bismuth based indeed. c: In all honesty, I'm very impressed that it was guessed so quickly.

Those dogs were done by Tyr, so I'm sure the similarity is just a coincidence. But that dog's swirls are similar to Bismuth swirls.
