Royalty Has It's Downs (Accepting)

Gavin inclined his head, slouching as far back as he dared in his chair and sighing slightly. "I see. Isn't this the business of the Captain of the Guard? But they take it to the council. In any event, what are the supposed threats? Religious fanatics? Run-of-the-mill assassins?" Gavin frowned and lowered his voice further. "Peasants revolting against new taxes? I know what Ajax said was not meant as a slight, but there very well could be repercussions."

Henry blinked and turned around to look at her. He was silent for a moment before smirking and doing the same as her, only he looked like an actual shadow. "Oh really?" He asked, his voice whispery and ghost-like.

Alexia looked at them. "Why not punish those who don't pay taxes? They will be an example to the rest of the peasants." She said. She was mostly serious about the idea, but it would have to be thought out better and She knew it. She moved constantly. She wasn't too bored yet. It could get interesting hopefully.

Aduno laughed and jumped to another shadow, traveling quickly and soon reaching the top of the castle. "Yes... I believe I have had a lot of fun." She said, throwing her cloak back on, the wind at the top of the castle causing it to billow behind her. "You have an interesting talent. And to think you are a guard." She laughed and waited for henry to reach the spot where she was standing.

Hexana nodded, still annoyed by Ajax's comment. "Yes... it should be the captain of the Guard's business. But as of late... he is missing. We are unaware of what has become of him so it is upon my personal request that all military affairs go through us. The threats are never specific. Juat that something will happen at some point. I am not sure when... or where... or to whom." She said, beginning to get worried. Her eyes showing a slight hint of fear as she inclined her head to the rest of the council.

Ajax noticed her worry and stepped in. "If we cannot find the Captain then we will need someone to take his place. But until then we should post extra guards along the walls and archers on the roof of the castle. That is what I propose and I am standing by it. We should not allow for these threats to become anything more than that. Threats. And I will not allow for anyone I care for to be directly affected by these threats if they do come to pass."

Alexia looked at them. "If there is an intentional attack, it would be planned well. I don't think a few extra guards here and there will help. I think We need to draft more guards. We can't let this castle be attacked. This is no time for taking small measures." She looked at Ajax. "I'm sure the archers would help, but someone will have to plan rotations." She said.

Henry went normal and blinked. He looked around, then spotted a figure on top of the castle. He grinned and was soon there, forgetting about his job. He looked down and chuckled. "I've never thought about coming up here before," he said.

Furattā heard speaking and went normal. She went towards a door and peeked through a crack in it curiously. This was bad. She shouldn't be doing this. These people were obviously royalty. She could be killed for listening in. But, it was just so tempting to listen.

Gavin grimaced and ground his teeth, trying to consider variables. "That... is troubling news indeed."
"Strong words, and they speak for us all, Lord Ajax, Lady DeProle. May I also recommend a screening of supplicants to the royal family before they be admitted to the hearing chamber. As for Lady DeProle's earlier suggestion, perhaps the missing taxes should be withdrawn from the commoners stored harvests in Spring, in the form of grain and seed."

Alexia looked at Gavin. She thought it over in her head. "That would work just fine. If they keep missing taxes though, there should be a more severe punishment." She said. She knew it could lead to the commoners getting mad at them, but still they hd to be kept under control. They ccouldn't keep getting away with things. That was her opinion others might not like it, but it probably wouldn't change at all.

Hexana growled her cat-like growl. "A few guards? No. But keep in mind that there are some who have abilities. We MUST use these abilities to our advantage!" She said finally speaking up, all her previous anger billowing over. "Whoever these people are MUST learn that I and all of royalty are NOT to be taken lightly!" She snarled, standing. "Whoever these are obviously know the secrets of the castle! We must learn these secrets! We must learn who is in on these threats and we must take. Them. Down." She growled, her previously light eyes growing dark and her warmth growing cold as she shelled up behind her authority. She turned to Gavin. "Taxes are not the issue here. Taxes... we can heighten them, lower them, whatever. It won't matter. All we can do is attempt to keep the peasants happy while we investigate further. If need be. I will go into town and investigate myself." She said, her anger lowering down slightly.

Ajax flinched as Hexana spoke, slowly slinking back to his seat, knowing she was angry and wanted no part of her anger to be centered towards him now or later.

Aduno smiled. "Well I enjoy to do this when I come up here." She said, jumping off of the top, listening as the nearby people screamed and then she vanished into the shadow of the castle, re-appearing at the spot she had met the young guard. She then shadow-jumped up to Henry's spot and smiled. "I forgot. You told me your age. I am 19. Look younger don't I?" she said, smiling.

Furattā jumped when one of them started yelling. At least with all the commotion they were going through they probably wouldn't notice her. She continued watching through the crack in the door, completely interested now. Now she couldn't just leave.

Henry watched her jump an chuckled as he heard people screaming at the sight at her falling. He watched as she safely appeared at the bottom and came to be next to him again. Henry nodded. "Yes, you definitely do look younger than 19. No offense."
