When buying a character, do you usually go more for the art than the design? Like, if it haves a quality reference?
I go for the design. I find it hard to develop and get attached to a character if I don't like the design. Quality art and such is great but the design is what gets me. uvu

While I like high quality references, I go for the design more than the art. I can always order more art of a character, even from very high quality artists, but it's much more difficult to change the character's design which will stay constant no matter the style/level of art that it's drawn in. That being said, I can't help but love certain artists' styles and if one of my favorite artists posts a design, I'm more likely to buy it than if it was drawn by someone else.

Hey guys, tomorrow is my birthday, so I am looking for characters! I don't have any real preferences other than them being animals(canines and wild cats preferably, but I'm open to any others!) and not extremely dark/evil/depressed looking. ^^ I have fifty dA points to spend(I have 60 more but wont be spending them until I finish the commissions I'm working on.
