Diluted grey tabby, deep blue eyes, a stunning red-brown nose.

Name:
Jayfire

Gender:
She-cat

Clan:
Shadeclan

Rank:
Warrior

Personality/Skills:
Jayfire is a mean-tempered cat who gives affection only to her mate, Mallownose. She is rude and quick to judge, and refuses to ever have kits as they annoy her. She has exceptionally great hearing, which is why she prefers to hunt alone. She is very good at fighting close-combat; a skill that many apprentices gawk over. She can be self-absorbed at times.

Important Notes:
She earned her name through unusual protocall: She used to have the prefix "Fire"( due to the hue of her nose) until her brother Jayflight left the clan. As a sort of memorial, her father was granted permission to rename her. She earned her suffix partially because it was her old prefix, as well as it easily matched her fiery personality.

Tortishell cat with bits of white fur

Name: Brokenheart

Gender: Female

Clan: Snowclan

Rank: Warrior

Personality/Skills: She is a brave, kind cat with a sense of adventure. She is the strongest cat in her clan, but tries her best not to hurt her friends. She is quite happy at times, but can be very serious when something important is going on.

Important Notes: During a battle with foxes, her best friend was killed saving her when she was an apprentice. She was heartbroken because she wanted that cat to be her mate, it was hard for her when she got her warrior name, because the leader thought it was the only one he could give her. When she was a kit, she was born with her ear torn in half, thus giving her the name 'Broken' kit.

Name Rating: 5/10
Name Type: Canonical/Lyrical
Name Reasoning: While Jay- isn't exactly a bad name (it's for a grey-brown cat, not a light grey one), names are used to describe a whole cat, not just one specific aspect of them; the exception being renames for notable injuries (such as Halftail or One-eye), and even then it has to be a pretty big injury to the point of hindering the cat for it to be name-worthy. Renaming a cat after her lost sibling is not only a bad idea, it's cruel - to me, the name says, "You're not good enough just being you. Here, I'll name you after your brother, who was so much more a worthy cat that you deserve to be overshadowed by it". She is her own self, not her brother, and they should all know that.
On the topic of prefixes, her old one isn't too great either. Being named after one tiny little spot of you is a terrible move on the mother's part. She's a light grey cat, with a very pretty coat color. Why on earth would you name her after her nose? And who's to say her nose will stay that way - maybe it'll dull as she gets older, or get scratched so badly the old color's barely noticeable. Her fur will, more likely than not, stay the same.
Alternative Name: Mistclaw/Miststorm. She's clearly very talented at fighting, so she should be noted for that (skill over personality, is the hierarchy of names), and if you feel that she's not exactly excellent, but just very good, then call her -storm, for her rather, ah...sour attitude.

Character Rating: 9/10
Character Reasoning: A nasty, full-of-herself cat isn't a bad character; every Clan is bound to have a jerk or two in at least one generation. She does have people that she cares about, though, and that is important in redeeming her behavior.
What I will also suggest is for you to figure out exactly why the Clan keeps her around. Someone who's pretty rude to everyone is obviously difficult to wake up and deal with every day for the rest of your life, so why do they bother with her? They need the Clan to work together without fighting.
Perhaps she's just a great fighter, and scares off any intruders; maybe she has a bravery about her that makes her more willing to take risks for the Clan. Maybe she has a "if you want something done, do it yourself" attitude and spends a lot of time making sure everything's nicely fortified. There's plenty more ups to having her around, if you think long enough about it.

Thank you for the response!
The reasoning behind the "Fire" prefix was because when she was first born, the first element to her that they noticed was her nose, as it contrasts against her fur. I agree that it was cruel to rename her that way, but I have reasoning behind that as well:
Her father was a bit thick-headed; His son Jayflight looked just like him, and unreasonably preferred him over Jayfire and their other brother I haven't mentioned. Their mother had taken Jayflight to a different clan, but for a reason too long to explain as I fear I might clog up your thread. Back to the renaming-part. Part of that was the reason why she turned sour, as you earlier mentioned.

Wouldn't be the first time I heard this name, haha.

Name Rating: 5/10
Name Type: Lyrical
Name Reasoning: Here's the thing with names like Broken-, Twisted-, and Lost-. The suffix always has to apply to the prefix (she would be named Brokenear, for example). Her ear is torn, yes, but cats get their ears torn all the time. She would look no different from a senior warrior or an elder. Cats in the Clans always bear scars from all the fighting they do. Bluestar had a very long, thick scar across her shoulders, and she wasn't renamed for that. On a side note, her ear probably wouldn't look so much torn as shrank or lobbed a little. (I have a cat with a mutated ear, and it's very stiff, wrinkly, and tiny, but not torn looking. This is also the same cat with flecks of brown across her eye. She's very odd.)
Now for -heart. Not only is this kind of a detrimental thing to name her for (she lost someone she loved - let's constantly remind her of that with a name), it doesn't really fit. She doesn't have a strong sense of justice, nor is she a meddlesome cat with good intentions - she sounds very aware and self-conscious, and gentle otherwise. Not really social justice warrior (heh) material.
Alternative Name: Sorrelfur/Sorrelpelt. While she doesn't have any real skills, she's a predominately ginger tortoiseshell, which marks her for Sorrel-. Do know that being simply named for her fur isn't a bad thing; she still contributes in her own way, and she sounds like a pleasant cat to be around.

Character Rating: 7/10
Character Reasoning: Her personality is fine. Losing a loved one is equally fine. However, it seems like you've let the latter define her, and so has her Clan. That's not fair to her at all. How would you feel if you lost a sister or your mother, for example, and instead of letting you grieve and get on with life, your family said, "Well, you're clearly distraught still, so we're going to take you over to the courts and get your name changed to Evergrieve, to show how pathetic and sad you are!"?
Not too kind, huh?
Cats will lose their loved ones. That is Clan life; work and eat and fight until you die. Death is such a normal thing for them (they kill every day for their meal!), and yes, cats will be affected. They will be sad and hurt for a long time. But they can't let it define them.
Your cat is a brave, kind, and cheerful soul. To continuously remind her that she misses this one guy for all her days isn't fair to her. She is so much more than that.

I can see your point. Still, her father's outright stupid to name her like that. The rest of the Clan (especially the medicine cat and deputy and leader, if he's not one) would not deal with that quietly. She probably wouldn't either, and I'm shocked that she did. She's still her own cat.

As for the Fire- thing, that's also a little dumb on the mother's part. A nose is not something worth caring about unless they're a fantastic tracker (in which case that's a suffix). Take Blackfoot. He's a huge white cat with talents in fighting, yet they wanted to focus on this one little (insignificant) part of him. Little weird, right?

I'd love to! The main reason I created this thread was to help people with their characters (I may set up a Clan review at some point or another, but I'm not too sure), so if you have any more and want some input please do send them my way!

Brown cat with short fur but long fur on tail

Name: Otterfang

Gender: Female

Clan: Riverclan

Rank: Warrior

Personality/Skills: She is a happy-go-lucky cat with tons of energy and bravery. Just being around her make the other cats feel happy and strong.

Important Notes: Her mother was a rouge, and after all except two of her kits died (otterfang and her brother) she gave them to riverclan (a lot like sasha) After a while Otterfang's brother (jettclaw) became leader. He led riverclan for a long time intill, in a huge battle with wolves (long story) they died side by side.

Name Rating: 9/10
Name Type: Traditional
Name Reasoning: Otter- is a prefix for a dark brown cat like yours. I don't see anything wrong with it whatsoever!
I'm a little uneasier on -fang, but primarily it's because I'm not sure if she's a good hunter/fighter or not. From what I can estimate, she seems like she could be. -fang cats are skilled in both hunting and fighting; not particularly fantastic at either, but above average. If you boost that skill up a little, I think the name would be just right.
Alternative Name: None. My alternative is for her to be bumped up a little in both fighting and hunting, because this name's pretty good!

Character Rating: 9/10
Character Reasoning: Just like her name, I don't have any complaints to administer. A bombastic, energetic cat who rallies others to do their best is a great candidate for leader/deputy, though, and I'm a little curious as to why her brother got the high ranks instead of her. Maybe she's just not someone who's good with leading the charge, but I think she could be.
