A while ago, some ex-friends
of mine bred their two
AKC Aussies, and the
entire litter grew up to
be dog aggressive, even
with major socialization.
Dixie's predicament may
very well be sort of the
same situation. It turns
out the two Aussies gene's
just didn't mix, creating
aggression issues in the pups.

I'm sorry you're having problems
with Dixie. My two male dogs
did not ever get along, right
up until the day one of them
passed away. That was probably just
territorial issues, but I totally understand
what you're going through. It's stressful
dealing with a situation like this.

I can believe that.
Because Dixie was very heavily socialized and not to mention raised with other dogs, I just really can't think of any other explanation other than genes and bad breeding.
Thank you. It's nice to know someone who understands.
For now, we'll just keep working and hopefully one day get to the point where she can live peaceably around our other dogs. I don't think she'll ever LIKE other dogs, but who knows? We can at least work towards that goal of her not reacting aggressively towards them.

Dixie looks a ton like my Aunt's Retriever Freddy! She got him from a local guy with two CKC registered dogs he used for hunting. Since they were both old and awesome gun dogs he bred them together so he could have one or two new pups. But the dogs ended up having a big litter. My Aunt had lost her previous Golden (A Confirmation styled, silky gold almost white) and was looking to get a new one. The man had a flyer up in the local petstore, but they were being sold as 'hunting dogs' and to 'working homes only'. My aunt was very disheartened, but my uncle took the number and called the guy up anyways and explained their situation. The man was reluctant at first, but said he had a small runt of a puppy that didn't appear very bright, and he was my uncles for 100$ if he wanted him. My uncle said yes and they drove an hour out to go pick him up (they took me with them just to check out the guy was a "okay breeder") with my camera and I in tow.



Freddy is the tiny dark one curled up in the far back corner. They were 9 weeks old here and the three other pups had already been picked up by their new families.



Sitting on the porch while we filled out the paperwork in order for my aunt to be able to purchase him, he was a little concerned to be taken away from his cozy siblings and blanket and heater.




Freddy now, full grown. He has the doggy equivalent of Canine OCD with water, if he hears a tap running, he'll come flying across the house, and will shake and bark and cry and leap at the TV if he sees water or a pool or lake on TV, and will foam at the mouth if there are- heaven forbid- DOGS IN SAID WATER.

No, he isn't under stimulated, incase anyone was worried, this was after a two and a half hour walk/hike/swim and vigourous training session. Freddy just lacks an 'off' switch.

My family has some Goldens too.
My great aunt and uncle have 2 (kind of, one is a mix)
This is Nellie. She is a 7 year old Flat-Coated Retriever/Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever mix
This is Jackson. She is a 4 year old purebred Golden Retriever (her fur was cut short in this picture. My mom took e picture, she is a photographer and that's why there's a signature lol)
Then my other aunt and uncle have one mix.
