does it bug you that so many literate roleplays never carry through more than a few pages? and the ones that do never complete their full plot? do you guys have a hypothesis why this happens so often?
i think it's just because forms can take so long and by the time everyone is finished, people lose interest. that's what i notice, anyway. or someone signs up for the sake of being in the roleplay even when they know they don't have time for it. lately i've noticed that i, personally, have difficulty with super complicated plots and pre-set characters. you never really get into the roleplay. i find myself wanting to reply more in a non-present large group where posts go faster.
but yes, it does bother me. which is way i'm working on a laid back rp that revolves around the characters and their roleplayers, not some super action packed plot. i have some characters i've been dying to use.
feel free to join when it's done and you have a favorite character you want to use

I have my own theory for this: you can't write a fast-paced story with literate-length posts. Think about it, when did you ever see an action scene or a dialogue scene in a book where the person talking switches every 500 words? The only stories that I can think of that does that is stuff like Paradise Lost, the Illiad, or Beowulf. In literate roleplays, where the story is supposed to be moving swiftly, we end up with epic internal soliloquies on what they think about ever iota of their environment and the other character, and no wonder people lose interest!
I've completely stopped participating in group literate roleplays because of this, and I only do 1x1s with partners who'll put up with my wild variation in the lengths of my posts.
(This is why I am in love with Skype and chatzy roleplays, where long posts are used for environment and scenes involving only one character, or some intensely thoughtful or emotional moments, but the rest of it is live posting of a couple sentences at at time. The roleplay moves quickly, that way.)
INSANELY BUSY!
I am moving! For the next month or so, I am going to be so very busy.
If I'm on here, it's because I'm unwinding with writing or pets or whatever.
Please do not add to my stress, if you can. Your support is appreciated.

it bugs me quite a bit, but i agree with arty as to why it happens. it's nice to reflect on the personality of your character but once you do it for three posts in a row you're bound to become bored. honestly, i don't know of a solution. sticking to one or two high-quality paragraphs is lovely, but that kind of leads into the whole "semi-literate vs. literate" thing. and i can't really talk about quality posts, haha. one thing i can think of is if roleplayers were more open to powerplaying. i mean, i know we all aren't big fans of it, but if you pm each other beforehand and arrange a course of action - even if it's as simple as "she walked away and jamie followed" - then the roleplay might have more life.
by the way, guys: thank you for thanking me for thanking you, but honestly you're all awesome. in due time i will do another one of those for the people that i do stalk but didn't get in the first one i got really lazy omg because you're all great.

omgglassy this made me cry sobs real loud this meant so much to me <3 I never realized that about myself *dabs eyes* thank you so much <3 <3 <3 <3 throws hearts at everyone

the real reason is (in my own opinion) that many people aren't as literate as their first post is. if they give you a bajillion word first post, then it's expected of them. then the age old excuse "writers block" comes into play. I know that most people do get it, but I've used it as a terribly untrue excuse for getting out of problems z3z
so for me, I think this is caused by pure laziness. their needs to be a literate roleplay (someone make it or I will please) where members just type two sentences and it's only heavy on the description. this is what non literate role players do. and you've seen their 400 page role plays. the only reason people have an excuse to not reply is because they have to go, or their tired.
(p.s. to those of you who said they were interested, I'll be making it soon)

It annoys me that group roleplays of even semi-lit standards very rarely exceed ten pages, let alone develop their original plot line. This said, the blame can only be dealt upon its members and I freely admit to ignoring group roleplays where there's a stagnation of activity or where romance becomes the key factor. It's not something I'm interested in roleplaying, I joined the roleplay (theoretically at least) because of the plot, not because I wanted it to become something else. I don't often participate in group roleplays any more because I just feel they're not worth the effort put in (except for Beatus' "once upon a time," which has an insanely great plot line and members that really push and challenge not only my writing but also my perception of events).

hello guys,
sorry for not being very active on this thread, reading through your guys'
posts proves to be a hella lot of inspiration (i recommend it because almost
everyone has great links to everywhere, in other words, motivational
outlets).
I have a few concerns that i would like to share with you, and hopefully,
you beauties will give me some advice(?) (:
Considering that I have more than one account on CS and one on advanced
scribes, i'm pretty much everywhere but have only one on one's to reply
to. I've heard that several role-plays are taking place and commanded by
you guys, so I'd like to check them out and see if my interests are aroused
enough to join. So don't hesitate to send in invites.
Secondly, I am in a squabbling heap of headaches due to my username.
If you guys have been observant the past months, you would see that my
name changes a lot. yadda yadda yadda, I need some help choosing
a username, and I'd love if you authors could give me some tips?
and then, I'd like to go forth and mention these clipart things that are
almost always attached to sigs and forms.
for example, if we were making a form on katniss everdeen, we'd put a little
mockingbird/jay at the edge of her picture or gif to make it look nice. are
those only found on tumblr? can ya'll provide links?
thank you all so much,
p.s. @Rose ; , darling, your hunger games role-play is perfect.
