If you have an Apple product, check out A Novel Idea. It's very -extremely- simple, but pretty handy to keep track of characters, ideas, scenes, locations, and stories.
They have a very simple design, but it's not quite so hard to get lost that way. They do have minor glitches (if you go to a character from another character that you connected together and hit back, you'd have to hit back 5 times instead of the 1 to get to character A or 2 to get to the menu.)
It's still a nice app and it's helpful. ^^
