It had been fifty-eight years since love had been identified as a disease and a successful cure was discovered. Deliria is what they now call it. Only people over the age of eighteen can go through the procedure safety. Anyone younger might suffer permanent damage. But scientists are trying their hardest so that even newborns may be cured.
Deliria is known to cause a light, nausea, depression, and even suicide in some severe cases. Anyone who believes they have contacted the disease must immediately report to officials for treatment.
No uncured of the opposite genders can mingle or touch in any way. It's considered dangerous and makes the chances of getting sick higher.
Students are evaluated at the age of seventeen, and are given a number between one and ten. The higher it is, the better. Then they are paired with someone of a similar number. After they finish college, they are to get married and raise the next generation. People always say that after you're cured, you become happier and freer.

But the truth is that everyone is trapped like mice in a cage. No one is given a say, and everyone is fed lies. Once love is taken away, what is there left? Nothing. People become shells of what they used to be, shells filled with only lies. There are people who don't like the way the world is though. There are the rebels who download illegal music, scavenge discarded books, attend parties after curfew, and meet uncured of the opposite gender. Some even fall in love.
Then there are the invalids and the sympathizers. The invalids are people outside the border. They don't need to live by the rules that bind everyone else inside. Some cross over the border once in a while and stay for months at a time each. They pretend to be one of the cured, by faking the inverted triangle scar that all of the cured have on their necks. They aren't supposed to even exist. The Wilds, where they live, had been bombed multiple times to flush out any of the stragglers. The sympathizers are those who know of the invalids, and they support them. They live inside the border though, and people consider them terrorists. Anyone suspected to be a sympathizers are killed on sight.

But inside the fences there are still people who believe. They believe in love. They believe that one day, things will go back to how it used to be. But for now, those few who still have hope left have to show it in secret. They live lives filled with lies.

(this RP is based off of the book Delirium by Lauren Oliver. You don't need to have read it to join, but i certainly recommend it :3)

the literacy in this RP won't be as high as I usually put. It's nearing the busier part of school for most people, and it's easier to post less. I don't really want this RP to die. But it's still semi-lit nonetheless. That means I expect at least two good paragraphs per post with good spelling and grammar. One long paragraph is fine as well. Or if your writing is detailed and is easy to respond to, but a bit short, I won't mind. This is a loose RP. But please don't use word block as an excuse every single post. And honestly, if I see really terrible grammar and spelling, I won't hesitate to kick you out. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but I'm fed up with posts I can't even understand.

She's the perfect one. She tries to be what everyone wants her to be. She always sticks to the rules, and wouldn't ever go near an uncured boy. She would report anyone who she thinks has deliria. She actually can't wait for her procedure, which is coming up in a few months. But there's something deeper inside her that is curious about what life might be if she didn't stick to rules. It makes her want to do something wrong for once.

He is an outsider. Literally. He comes from the Wilds, and although he act to be cured, he's actually not. He's a great actor, and needs to be, to stay unnoticed inside the borders. No one really knows how he is really feeling. Once you get to know him better though, he is a fun-loving and carefree boy. One could almost describe him as a bird. He's usually laid back and cool, and rarely has a temper. it may get annoying at times, but he is always level-headed in a dangerous situation and a great leader.

She is an avid daydreamer. she never really seems to be rooted on the earth. she is often seen staring off into the distance, not paying attention to those around her. and no one really pays attention to her either. she doesn't mind though. she likes to be alone off in her own thoughts. she dreams about being loved, but never does anything about it in fear that she may be caught. she isn't exactly shy. she'll talk if spoken to first, but only if.

he is damaged beyond repair. anyone could see the hurt in his eyes, and everyone knows where it was from. his father had tried to kill him multiple times when he was younger, since his parents didn't want to take care of anyone. although no parents loved their children, at least most took care of their off-springs and did what parents were supposed to. he tries to avoid love though, and he looks forward to the procedure to remove all the pain he holds on his shoulders.

she has always lived inside the fence, but something always felt wrong to her. she felt crowded in, and distant from everyone who had taken the cure. she had two older siblings, and after they went though the procedure, they were never the same to her. not knowing what else she could do, she started doing what she wasn't supposed to in secret. she wrote about love, and hate toward the cure. she listened to illegal music and went to parties once in a while. she even dated in secret for a few months once.

He is a sympathizer. it wasn't really his choice, since he was born into it. but he sees the bad in the world that he lives in, and understand his parents point of view. but he also sees some good in it. his best friend had fallen in love, even though he had tried warning him several times. before he was taken for the procedure, he killed himself. He never got over the fact that love had actually killed someone dear to him, and he would rather be alive but emotionless than dead. He is awkward around people, and a bit selfish. but once he loves someone, he loves them with all his heart and will do anything for them.

Mother- Abigail Marie Amory is a sweet hearted house wife. She keeps a tidy home and has strict rules. She is a good mother, but never seems to have enough time in the day for them all.
Father- Michael Leroy Amory is a busy lawyer who loves providing for his family. However, he works all day long and hardly has time to see them. He has to keep a lot of work to support his wife's taste.
Older Brother- Levi James Amory is a knuckleheaded brother who lives at home because of his lack of motivation. He flunked out of college and now works at a fancy place as a waiter. The parentals were disappointed, but what could they do?
Older Sister- Joan Elizabeth Amory is an amazing student, great volunteer, and overall 'best daughter of the year'. She is a freshman in college and lives on campus. However, her legacy lives on forever.
Younger Brother- Toby Michael Amory is a troublemaker with a capital 'T'. He is spoiled rotten and the baby of the family. He can be sweet.. to his mom. Very rarely is he nice to anymore else.

Keelan is a smart girl trapped in the middle of a large family. She is different from her siblings in almost every way. Her brother failed, her sister has taken over, and her brother is the baby. She has her only escape through her bounty of creativity. She plans on being an artist because she doesn't like anything else. Or a writer. Her parents want her to go off to college and make something of herself. Life is sometimes to stressful and she doesn't cope well.

Keelan is 5'3'' with a petite and slender build. Her weight is average with her height and current physical conditioning-110-115 pounds. Most of her strength is in her legs, making her good at flight rather than fight.

Hair, eyes, Skin pigmentation;;
Keelan has short ebony hair that hardly ever gets to her shoulders. Her eyes are a gray blue with speckles of hazel coloring. She has light color skin with a bit of an olive undertone.

Scars, Piercing, Tattoo;;
Keelan has a single lip ring- a monroe piecing- on her upper lip; however she hardly wears it anymore.

Clothing type;;
Keelan wears flowy skirts and dresses. Sometimes, she will wear blue jeans or pants in general, but she prefers the freedom of the skirts. She loves leggings and boots- her favorite is combat style.

Personality;;
Keelan is a quiet observer. She isn't shy, but she doesn't really talk unless she feels like she has too, or needs too. She is mature in her own way, having to grow up faster than normal. She honestly loves to mother the broken people who need it- and yes that involves nagging (out of love ;P). She has a creative heart and a loving spirit. She has a loneliness she can never express with words.

Keelan was raised in a Christian family, but they were never really too strict about going to church or anything. So, if asked, she would say Christian, but she is a poor excuse of one...

Keelan is heterosexual and is pretty innocent when it comes to love. She hasn't had a kiss before. Well not really.

Tap, tap, tap --> Keelan taps her fingers when she is nervous, usually on her legs or table tops.
Artist --> Keelan has a hand in art, the only one in her family. Her favorite medium is watercolors and sculpting.
Salty food --> Is it a hobby to sit around and eat salty chips. Doritos yum.
Day dreaming --> She loves day dreaming, staring out the window, and generally spacing out.
Cold weather --> She hates the heat, hates it completely, but the cold weather is like a fantasy for her.

Slugs and other insects--> Keelan hates big bugs, actually bugs in generally. Even more so, she hates hates hates slugs.
