xXSpiderfangXx wrote:Name: Spiderfang
Description: A lighter shade of black with dark brown socks, chest/belly fur and inner-ear fur. He has a thick stripe going down his spine from the back of his head to the base of his tail, coming to a sharp point at both ends. Thinner, wavy stripes of an alternating dark brown-light brown-dark brown pattern sprout from the thick stripe all the way down his back. They also come to sharp points at the ends. He has four tail rings on the end on his tail, in the same pattern as his back stripes. Six dark brown stripes, three on each side, start at the back of his head and come around the side of his head, coming to points under and next to his eyes.
Important Notes:He has amber eyes that take in more light than normal as a result a a deformation which gives him eight pupils in each eye, and the extra light makes his eyes appear to glow. He has longer fangs than normal, as well, and is a very skilled fighter/hunter. He is very well-built, and larger than average in size. His mother died in childbirth, and it took his father until his eyes opened to name him. By the time Spiderfang was old enough to become a warrior, his fangs had grown longer than those of other cats.

Name: Spiderfang
Gender: Male
Clan: I've used him in both ThunderClan and ShadowClan, but I think ThunderClan fits him better, as he is very noble and caring for his Clanmates.
Rank: Usually Warriors, but has been used as a Leader more than once.

Do we have a Homestuck fan with us today? 38)
Boy howdy this got long, I do apologize.
Name Rating: 10/10
Name Type: Traditional
Name Reasoning: Reading the description, I'm kind of conflicted on how to judge this cat. The pelt color doesn't actually occur in the real world, but he does have clear mutations that lead into high fantasy. I guess the best I can do is juggle both.
Spider- cats are a dark brown, almost black, and it would appear that, realistically, he would be a reddish-brownish-black cat. Spider- works well. Not only that, but -fang is traditionally used to describe a cat who's got skill in both hunting (-whisker) and fighting (-claw). You picked a great name for him.
Alternative Name: None! Congratulations, you're the first without an alternate suggestion.
Character Rating: 5/10
Character Reasoning: While the name is very well suited, the cat himself is a little bit of a pill to swallow. Like I said above, this is going to have two small reviews, so here we go.
Realistic: Such a cat would not exist. Any pupil deformations would probably result in a blind cat, not an especially talented one. (Of course, there are some cases where a cat can have different eye color flecks in their eyes - indeed, my cat has a few, though it doesn't look like extra pupils so much as a spray of mud.) Not only that, but long teeth usually aren't a thing (cat teeth are actually pretty tiny, but sharp - which contrasts with dog teeth, large and dull), and the coat color just wouldn't happen (if anything, a black tabby would have
these stripes, not brown ones). If he were to stay a black tabby, then his name wouldn't fit. I would go with a reddish-black cat with long legs as a Spider- cat.
Fantasy: If the rest of his Clan, or other cats, tend to have odd mutations as a rule (being absurdly tall, extra eyes, split tails, etc), then he wouldn't be out of place. It's not too subtle, but it's helpful to him - of course, I imagine those big fangs get in the way (he'd probably talk with a li2p, if you'd ask me). If that world also includes unusual coat colors, then he's fine with that too. I still recommend changing his fur color to fit his name, however.
One additional note: A basic requirement in Clan life is to be caring for your Clanmates. Being noble is also part of the warrior code. Unfortunately, Erin Hunter doesn't quite convey that as well as she should, but it's there. It really depends on his skills - if he's good at sneaking and prowling around unnoticed, he's ShadowClan. If he's a big, strong cat who's better at catching birds, he's ThunderClan. If he's a skilled swimmer, he's a RiverClan. If he's a fast runner, he's a WindClan. See what I mean?
