What's an Anubian Jackal?

Anubian Jackals

Playful little creatures that are small enough to perch on your shoulder.
Very loyal to their owners, these magical little creatures make the perfect pet.
Once the pet of Anubis, the Egyptian God of the Underworld, He blessed them with the gift of flight and the ability to do as much as the Lord of the Underworld himself coud do.
Though they only bark, they are able to communicate with you telepathically which is rare because they are a big fan of playing charades.
Anubians live for a very long time. One reported Anubian was born in the early 1700s.

I know this is a bit of a different choice, but I feel this song fits his personality very well, the little back story I had planned out for him was that he was from a royal family, and always told to do or say certain things, and when he finally decided to be himself, all that there was left was anger, strife, and pain, everything else had been sort of taken away from him.
