Emeraldeyes purred. She nusseled her kits, making sure they wouldn't bat eachother. She licked their ruffled fur.

"Mother! Lily howled as the river tugged at her fur.
But it was too late.
By the time Smokey has turned around Lily had been pulled into the middle of the river.
"Lily, no!" she cried
"Help!" Lily screamed before she was sucked under the water.
She fought to get to the top, blinking her eyes. She spun around in the water, hoping that'd help. She took a huge breath. She looked to see her mother running a long the bank beside her. "Kick your paws, dear!"
Lily started kicking but her mothers cry of "Watch out!" stopped and made her turn.
A huge rock slammed into her face and that was all she remembered.
