head (frontal view) reference

So, I got a new tablet to draw on... :3
I'm very impressed with how this worked out compared to my old art from a few years ago. I wanted to make this a lineless, but my eyes were starting to hurt by the time the thought hit me, so oh well.
Comments and critique are greatly appreciated, since this is the first finished piece of digital art I've done in a long time ^_^

Edit: 1/7/2014: Changed the lighting a little bit here and there. Line-art has been colored to make it look like they aren't actually there. Messed with the ear shading/lighting because it was bothering me.

Hello. It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm M u c k. I hope you don't mind a bit of critique.

For one, I think the eye is a bit too large for the head. If it was bumped down a bit smaller, I'm sure it would look much better. Also, the nose makes the muzzle appear way too mushed together. I think the nose should be brought out a bit more, and also be just a tad bit smaller. With this being said, the ear looks alright, but I think if it was pushed back and down a little more it would make it seem more natural.

Other than that, it seems like you're heading to a nice start on becoming a better artist. I really like the background and shading, something I probably couldn't accomplish yet. Oh, and also, I recommend looking at photographs of actual wolves instead of other people's drawings. I think it's okay when you're using a HOW TO DRAW, but other than that actual photographs are the best references.
