Windsong smelled rabbit coming from down the hill. She would have to move quickly to catch it without it knowing. She slithered as gently as she could through the grass, still smelling it. She got pretty close when the grass blew her scent towards the rabbit and it started running. Windsong burst out of the grass, her gray striped pelt moving against the tall prairie grass. She lengthened her stride, moving faster and faster as the ground between her and the rabbit was quickly decreasing. She could feel the wind in her pelt, the fear radiating from the rabbit. Windsong leaped the last few tail-lengths, and missed the rabbit, running into a flock of pheasant. She clawed one down from the air and quickly killed it. She picked it up by the neck and brought it towards the apprentices. "That is how I hunt. Now you try."

Gorsepaw stared in awe, " That was amazing" he mewed. Turned one way and started to creep forward, sniffing for prey. He caught the scent if another rabbit, the most common prey in PrairieClan. He slunk toward it, trying to get his stance right, it started running when he was still quite far from it and he took chase. He didn't get very close before the rabbit popped down into a hole. He let out a little sigh but stayed calm, he would learn how to hunt.
Bramblepaw watched her brother and then stalked the other way, her lean pelt testing with excitement. She caught the scent if a groundhog. They where almost as common as rabbits here. She saw it scurrying along and noted that its hole was pretty near, if she went towards it she would never catch it before it ran for the hole. She slunk around to sit right behind the hole and leaned down ready to spring. She smacked one paw into a stalk of grass, the second the crack rang out the Groundhog raced for its hole. As it was about to run into the hole, Bramblepaw leapt and landed on the creatures back. It let out a scream of terror and Brambleoaw quickly cut it of with a swift throat bite. She looked up holding the groundhog triumphantly.

"Thank you Gorsepaw, I learned on my own." She watched the younger cats try in thier own respective area. "Nice try Gorsepaw, You just need to learn the proper stance, your mentor will teach you that." She went over to Bramblepaw and her caught groundhog, "Good catch, you just need to be quieter on the way to the hole. If he heard you early, you would have to chase it."
