Kris sighed. "I wish I could have stopped it."

Luke shook his head. "Nobody could have. When she drinks, she gets violent. That's it."

"I could have stopped her from drinking," she sighed.

"Kris, no one could have stopped this. And as messed up as it is, I liked having her here when she was sober." Luke sighed.

Kristyna sighed. "It's not messed up. I liked her too. I just wish I could have stopped her from drinking, that's all."

Luke swallowed hard and shook his head. "I just don't know anymore, Kris."

Kris looked at him. "What do you mean?"

Luke sighed. "I don't know what to do or feel. On one hand, I love my mom. But on the other hand...she does this." He gestured to the bruises on his torso.
