I think a good personality in the depths of the character, really how you connect with the art because I find if you can't connect with the art your form won't be as good. Also any kind of art is good as long as you put the effort in making or buying art its all that counts. :)

I'm going to throw my two cents in and say that creativity and standing out is the most important part.

what do you think shows that someone really cares in a form? Other than tons of writing

for me, I really love it when I see effort put into the writing they have. for the personality sections, a personality that makes sense in regards to their history, likes and dislikes, and opinions really scores high. that shows that they're working on the hardest part of a character, which is making an individual based not solely on the design, but also on how that character is viewed by themselves. art isn't that important to me. yes, it's a bonus- something that pretty it ups, and can show the character and how they pose themselves, but not everyone has the time, means, and currency to trade for amazing art. unique extras, when allowed, really make a form stand out. using 'overused' extras like art and songs can be a let-down. yes, they can be creative, but they don't always make the form 'pop' out from the competition.

back to personality, making a character 3D {adding flaws, strengths, annoyances, fears, and those 'little things'} convince me that someone really loves that character. a character that's only 2D can seem bland, and almost off-setting.

what do you think shows that someone really cares in a form? Other than tons of writing

Okay, I'll have to say first off that the basics need to be well thought out. I see a lot of forms with a slapped on name which probably took two seconds to think of, ( though sometimes they turn out to be good ) with a meaning which doesn't show up in the character at all, design wise, feel, nor how they create their character. Names are a biggie because that's one of the first things you see.

Next I think one of the next important thing to look for in a well put together and loving form is the look. I know, I know, some people have horrible coding skills and they can't do one at all, but simple is good too. Usually I even use [list] to at least give my form a more compact feel on some contests, making it look a bit larger with minimal coding. Though, make sure that your coding is actual PRESENTABLE and GOOD-LOOKING. There's no use coding when it just makes your form look even worse! Also, don't make it a point to code 'please if you don't have time, Adven can be understanding. D:

Another thing that's on par with the feel of your form and has about the same importance is the depth of your character. Usually a personality with pros and cons is one that a lot of people seem to just throw out the window, the mary sue-ness infecting the CS adoptable boards. |D Adding quirks, likes and dislikes, and non-contradictory info is important! Nobody is going to actually like your character if they're 'nice' but 'mean', in the same ways! Of course, there is such thing as being something to a fault, like 'generous to children' but 'not so generous to old people', which works because they're not 'generous/not so generous to both'. One thing which is impossible unless they have a split personality or have a clone of themselves.

Now, I also have to put this on the slate for you all, is when they say 'extra' PLEASE go wild! I don't do this personally, because the things I wish I could do wouldn't come out well at all, and WOULD hurt my form and/or I'm too lazy (shhhshshhhsh, that's it LOL). You could do a plushie, use lyrics from different songs to explain your character, actually create a song about them, do relations with others and how they act towards them, paint a picture on your WALL and post a picture on your form, make a SHIRT about them, the possibilities are practically endless!

Onto art. Personally, buying art is just too hard for people who don't have the money, nor the skills/charas to make a trade for it. Its putting a harsh set bar for people who're poor, or unable to spare it, or aren't allowed to. Making people draw it themselves shows effort, and that you'd take time out of your day to make it, not paying someone else to do it. And gift art? Sure, that's fine, its not like you can force people to stop gifting you art (within legal rights lul)! Oh, and add personality in guys! Don't draw a headshot of them straight-faced, and looking at the other end of your wall aaaannnnndddd if you buy art, you CAN specify you didn't have time, I can understand. Though lying about it bad. Don't lie. Bad lying children. xDDD

Not turns into a debate about art in forms :3

Adding onto this, while it's great you guys have input on how you feel. It would be best not to cause a debate or any tension between people. So I hate to be the bad guys here, but let's please refrain from answering questions like it's a debate. Unless you're answering the question(s) or talking about makos in general, don't post. It's wonderful you guys feel certain ways about forms and trust me when I say this; staff read through the questions. <3
We hate having to see people indirectly debate with one another.
So yes; unless you're not going to seem tense about answering the question guys, don't answer at all. Underlining, or bolding or using italics to get a 'point' across isn't needed and is unnecessary. Sadly if I see it again after this you'll get a verbal warning.

We are going to ahead and 'drop' this question as it seems people have begun to get harassed on their views via pm.

popping in the fanclub after like 1000 years of watching it

what do you think shows that someone really cares in a form? Other than tons of writing

i think quality shows care. when it comes to art, it means more to have a couple full drawings than a ton of quick sketches, and i believe making your own art also shows dedication, because you're working for it. this said, i have no problem with ordered art in forms if it's alongside some art made by the person trying out.
for writing, i look for quality, not quantity. i can write 4 pages of absolute crap, so amount shouldn't mean anything. a paragraph or two of well written, thought out history or story means a lot more to me than a huge amount of incessant blubbering.
as for coding, i don't think it alone proves care. i can't code for my life, but that doesn't mean i care any less than the person who is fluent with form coding. i would be highly disappointed if a form with a good story, an in depth, thought out personality, and well done, original art lost to a lesser form just because the latter was coded more beautifully. sure, it looks good, but it's what's in the form that matters most.

and with that i'll go back to bopping around the fanclub

    Small Reminder
If anyone has some serious questions or concerns, we have our Makoatl Ask, you're likely to get a much quicker reply than posting questions on the fanclub or main adoption page.

If someone is bothering you or harassing you please PM me or another Mod with proof of the harassment and we will try to resolve the issue/problem as soon as possible. Try not to react or continue the fight. Just a note to anyone here on the Fanclub; if someone is harassing you or bothering you and it directly related to Makoatls. Do not hesitate to PM me or another Moderate for Makos with direct proof the person has been bothering you. We will handle it as quickly as possible.

Well to drop some more questions for you guys.

Is there any certain Makoatl themes made?
Neutral(black/grey/white) with abrupt flashes of colors~

If you could have a custom, how do you think you'd design it?
I'm not really sure xD that's something I'd have to draw out to figure out.

Is you're character in a fandom? If so, explain. If not, explain why not.
Rai isn't. He prefers to just... Stay to himself
Fawn ain't got time for that xD

Do you consider you're mako a pretty close character of yours, or do you think you could do more to be active with you're makoatl?
More active. Rai only has three rps and none are active, Fawn has none as well ;n;

What do you like to spend time on most during a competition? (not what do you think is worth more time; just what do you personally enjoy doing in a form and spending more time on.)
Character development and art.

Which mako do you think is a close opposite to your mako?
Rai and Fawn are exact opposites really.

If you're mako had a twin sister/brother, how would they react?
Rai would be okay with it. He's always wanted a sibling.
Fawn would hate it.

Which mako do you think is a dream mako for you? (owned or not)
Milo, 90, Rai, and Cass's custom are a few.

How do you like the New Years event so far, any ideas or input? (as long as it's not a huge page of ranting or being rude.)
I'd love to see more created of course. Maybe one, at the end, that has something to do with like a party or something. I'd love to see bright designs too.

? I would like and ice theme(jk thank you death clock!) one based off of an owl, and a willow tree maybe

If you could have a custom, how do you think you'd design it?
I swear I'm not saying this just cause it's contest is going on, but like 99, but maybe with longer and/or white/blonde hair

Is you're character in a fandom? If so, explain. If not, explain why not.
Stolz is pretty into Les Miserables, but that's it XD

Do you consider you're mako a pretty close character of yours, or do you think you could do more to be active with you're makoatl?
He's my bab, but I could always treat him better </3

What do you like to spend time on most during a competition? (not what do you think is worth more time; just what do you personally enjoy doing in a form and spending more time on.)
I love making videos, because it's def. more unique and takes me usually between 10-30 hours so it shows I really care

Which mako do you think is a close opposite to your mako?
Um um I dunno XD whichever one thinks they are bad at everything and hates life

If you're mako had a twin sister/brother, how would they react?
"Hi me! Oh wait it's not me? Dannngggittt"

Which mako do you think is a dream mako for you? (owned or not)
#99

How do you like the New Years event so far, any ideas or input? (as long as it's not a huge page of ranting or being rude.)

Fun! I'm not taking part unless the scale is REALLY pretty though(cause I'm trying to only get two makos)
