CoralLyne groaned as the guards dragged her down the hall and locked her in another cell. It took a while for her to realize that this one had people in it. CoralLyne was one of the new kids here. She had only been kidnapped last week. There really wasn't much to miss, but she missed the smell of the oak trees and to watch the birds, and staying up late to look for shooting stars. Coral sat down it a corner, farthest from the people, and stared blankly at the wall. Tears streamed down her face but still she said nothing. The salt from her tears entered a cut on her cheek and forced her to wince in pain. Even as she tried to stop, the tears kept coming. She was quiet, no Silent. The kidnapper liked that. A quite girl to beat. absentmindedly, CoralLyne touched a bruise above her left eye. She shook at the memory of him hitting her. Over and over. Never had she said a word. Not yelped, nor winced. Never cried. Never gave him a reaction. The hits did hurt. He had a strong arm and an even stronger fist.
I know why
the caged bird sings.
A caged bird stands
on a grave of dreams,
his shadow shouts on
a night mares scream.
We think the caged bird sings,
when indeed, he cries.
The song of a bird,
can never be caged.

Corals eyes got big. She hadn't talked in days, and she wasn't going to start now. She pulled a piece of coal from her necklace and wrote on the stone wall. 'CoralLyne. Call me Coral. Sorry, I don't talk...' She wrote waiting for a reply. She whipped her cheeks, smudging her blood and coal dust on her cheeks and nose.

Coral nodded real fast. Her brown ringlets bobbing up and down. Her blue eyes dance with excitement. "Who are they?" She wrote on the wall. She didn't want to be here, in a prison. Nothing would be worse living it alone. She knew that from experience.

Carson sat in a corner with her knees tucked up against her chest. Her head laid on her ripped jeans as she watched everybody interact, she'd been here at least 4 months and hadn't talk to any of them yet. None of them knew her name and she didn't know their's.
