Kris took a deep breath. "Yeah..." she said. "I am. She'll be here this weekend."

There was a long pause before Luke managed to say something. "Wow," he breathed. "This is really happening." He cleared his throat a bit. "Thank you, Kris."

Kristyna let out a heavy sigh of relief. "You're welcome," she said. "I was so worried."

"Worried about what?" Luke asked.

"I thought you'd be really upset," she said.

Luke smiled. "Why would I be upset? My mom's coming."

"That's why. The way things were left between you two..."

Luke nodded, seeing her point. "Yeah, but I'm hopeful that things might go better his time."

"So am I," he said.
