An amused smile broke out on Wisppaw's face, when Brookpaw jumped to her paws and caught the leaf. She dipped her head, meowing "Good job.he she-cat was amused, and happy with Brookpaw's enthusiasm to become a great warrior. She certainly would. At the mention of her struggle with Fighting, Wisppaw could relate; her small body frame made it hard to fight with sheer force. She had learned, though, that using speed against her foes would make up for that. She still hadn't mastered it though, and figured that it would take time and practice. "My fighting skills aren't the best either, I'm more of a hunter as well." She replied, touching her tail to the she-cat's shoulder. The saddened look on Brookpaw's face seemed to snap right out, when she asked for tips for hunting. Wisppaw liked to consider herself a good tree hunter; it was her favorite way to hunt, being up high and stalking birds and squirrels. With a light body, she was able to climb up to the slimmest of branches.
"I suppose I could give you a few pointers," Wisppaw murmured, shifting a bit in her spot. "I love tree climbing, so I could give you a few tips there. The key is to know your limits. Don't go too fast if your not ready, and don't climb too high if the branches won't hold your weight. Hunting up there can be a tad difficult, but if you're going to rear up to catch a bird, or a squirrel, make sure your back claws are deep in the bark. It helps to find notch holes as well. "
brookpaw chuckled, knowing how annoyed she felt whenever one of the bigger boys just shoved her over when practicing. they would often jeer at her as they would in a real battle, but she hardly took it lightly. in the end, she'd just become a whirling ball of silver fluff that was in a complete rage. brookpaw remembered a time when she felt as though she'd just run off and the fact that they had to fight would go away. it made her sigh slightly. however, when the conversation moved back onto hunting,g the silver cat pricked her ears and listened closely. "if only there were a tree." she wondered aloud. then, she had an idea. "wait there a sec!" she exclaimed, racing off. leaving the cave and heading to the edge of the trees, she looked wildly around her. her eyes flashed with excitement as she spotted what she wanted. brookpaw tried to pick up the log. it was way to heavy. instead, the little cat rolled it forwards and into the cave, just outside of the den. there, in front of wisp paw, she began to prowl on again. when she reached up for her pretend prey this time, though, she gripped tightly into the bark with her claws. "like that?" she asked.
cloudpelts cinnamon colored eyes opened slowly. it took him a moment to realize where he was after having a vivid dream of hunting in the forest. a muffled yawn escaped his jaws as he lifted his head over his sisters sleeping body. her warmth washed over him in a wave of sweet smelling comfort. he managed to pull himself away from her and found himself frowning at the instant sting of cold. while he could have slept there all day he thought better of it and reluctantly rose to his paws. a long yawn and stretch greeted him and he happily accepted. cloudpelt tossed one last glance at his sisters sleeping form and padded out towards the clearing to greet his clanmates. he was surprised at first to see how many of them had already woken up but then he realized that he had been the one to sleep in. embarrassment flooded over him, causing his skin to heat up, and he drug himself towards the fresh-kill pile. cloudpelt swiped a plump mouse from the bottom and retreated to a warm spot to eat. when his stomach was somewhat satisfied he rolled onto his side to begin grooming. only then did he realize it was his turn to set up the dawn patrol. cloudpelt jumped to his paws almost instantly and searched the camp in a desperate attempt to find more warriors. his eyes landed on the small white form of his apprentice, wisppaw, and he padded over in a slightly hurried fashion. he gave a curt nod to the two apprentices and a purr erupted in his chest. "sorry, wisppaw, your mentor is a lazy ball of fur." he smiled down at the she-cat and settled himself beside her. "if you're up for it i'd like to take you out on the dawn patrol. as soon as i find ravenfeather and maybe some one else to join we should be set to go." his voice was still thick and gravely from sleep but he gave his throat a good clearing and watched the two younger cats.
{ sorry I'm a bit late to post >.< just been held up lately. I don't have time to post for rosefur right now but once i get the time she'll wake up and join everyone else c:
Wisppaw watched, slightly in dismay as Brookpaw ran out of the cave once she was done talking. Watching, as she came back in, her eyebrows lifted a little bit. A log would certainly be a good place to practice on. Watching carefully as the younger apprentice stalked and then reared up, Wisppaw nodded, satisfied. Brookpaw had almost got it perfect. "Very good!" She exclaimed, a happy look in her eyes. It certainly felt good to give pointers that worked! "Perhaps, we should go hunting sometime, Wisppaw purred, dipping her head. Wisppaw could tell that Brookpaw was going to be a good Warrior, her enthusiasm showed.
Wispaw looked around for her mentor, who still seemed to not be up. She sighed; it would have been nice to get some early training, but now it was too late. Oh well, she thought to herself, turning back to Brookpaw. She was glad, that the younger she-cat didn't have anything against her, for being a kittypet.
She jumped a bit, when her Mentor Cloudpelt came over; but that was alright. I guess, I thought wrong, she added to herself, feeling a bit guilty. "There you are, Cloudpelt. I was waiting for you." She replied, smiling. Wisppaw liked her mentor; He was young, so he could understand what it was like to be an apprentice. "Ooh, border patrol. It does sound positively delightful. Who else will you pick?"

"We'll do some battle training if you want to, Smallpaw," Copperstar smiled, touching his tailtip lightly upon the eager apprentice's shoulder for a few moments as he looked around the camp. Most of his clanmates were out of their dens and discussing today's plans, so he decided now would be a good time to announce the patrols for the day.
"It's time for me to call a clan meeting now," Copperstar meowed, turning back to face his apprentice. He padded across the sandy floor of EarthClan's camp and over to the large stone set in its center. He wriggled his haunches slightly and leapt upon the Sandrock in one swift, fluid movement.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the Sandrock for a Clan meeting," Copperstar announced with a deep, clear voice. He observed as cats poured out into the center of the clearing, making the camp appear as lively as ever.
"Good morning, everyone," he addressed his clan once they had gathered beneath him, "I know many of you have been eagerly awaiting the patrol schedule for today, so, with that said, the dawn patrol shall be led by Cloudpelt, and Wisppaw, Ravenfeather, Sootpaw, and Yellowfern will join him. The afternoon patrol shall include Duskflower, myself, Smallpaw, and Brookpaw and will be led by Lochfoot."
"Some of you may or may not be aware," Copperstar continued once meows of excitement died down, "but the apprentices will be excercising their hunting abilities for me later this morning, which will take care of most of the hunting today. Once the dawn patrol has returned to camp, I expect all apprentices to meet me beside the second entrance. Until the assessment begins, I further expect mentors and apprentices to practice swimming, climbing, battle training, or hunting."
"Before I dismiss, I would like to inform all of you that the deputy shall be chosen at moonhigh tonight. Good luck to you all." Copperstar finished his morning speech with a flick of his tail, dismissing all of the cats to their earlier activities.

Moongazer looked up from her paws as the familiar sound of her brother's voice rang out into the clearing paired with the ancient words of their warrior ancestors. She looked over at Robinpaw once more, but decided not to wake her as it wasn't necessarily imperative for her to attend the meeting for patrols. Moongazer sat just outside of her den as she never felt comfortable leaving the young one alone for very long. Moongazer motioned with her tail for Duskflower to come sit beside her as they listened to Copperstar's words.
At the sound of the apprentice's hunting assessment, Moongazer frowned. She felt sincerely sorry for Robinpaw. She knew how much she wanted to be a warrior, but StarClan had other plans.
Near the end of the meeting, Copperstar mentioned the deputy ceremony. Moongazer hoped he would come visit her before then as she wished to speak to him about it, but, here lately, it seemed he didn't have much time for her anymore.

brookpaw felt her ears grow hot in pride and embarrassment. "it'd be an honour to hunt with you!" she chuckled and repeated the balances again and again to get the feel of it. to get to know the branch beneath her claws. she pictured herself, crouched out on a bare exposed branch high above the foliage and undergrowth; stalking a single bird, fat enough to feed the clan for moons. she heard a whisper in the wind. the crack of the branch as it took her weight. a cat talking... wait, what?! brookpaw was jolted awake as cloudpelt started to speak to whisppaw. she shot the older mentor an anxious smile and dipped her head. "see you later, wisppaw!" she called, turning towards the entrance. suddenly, a proud clear voice rang out. louder than all others. brookpaw turned away, trotting towards the large rock where her leader addressed them. she seated herself down, looking up at him. yes, a patrol she grinned, from ear to ear. but then, she felt her tail droop slightly - an assessment. she sighed, hoping lochfoot would be able to teach her something beforehand. when dismissed, she bounded out to practice her hunting skills.

hearing the call of the leader, ravenfeather looked into the cave. he saw his clan mates, young and old were gathering to listen to the leader's announcement. he watched copperstar leap up and knew that it was time for the patrols to be announced. the large black warrior bounded inside the mighty stone hollow, twitching his tail for sootpaw to follow him. he stopped at the back of the crowd, not wanting to obscure other's views with his broad shoulders. he looked up to watch the leader as he gazed down upon them. right, that is good., he'd be on the first dawn patrol - ravenfeather smiled at the chance to prove himself. it was only when he was told another was to be leading it, when his face fell. he felt a stab of disappointment. did copperstar feel he was not worth leading a patrol? the tom shook it away. maybe, but maybe not? he'd just have to prove himself. ravenfeather then took note of the fact there was an assessment, and as soon as they were dismissed, he motioned for sootpaw to come over to where he sat at the edge of the cave.

Hearing his mentor's greeting, Sootpaw nodded slightly. "Good morning," The gray tabby responded in a mew. Upon hearing Ravenfeather's words about the vole, Sootpaw nodded once more. He would try his best to work on his hunting skills and potentially catch more prey, to replace the one he was eating. Ravenfeather had dropped into a hunter's crouch, and Sootpaw soon returned his attention to the vole, finishing it off in a few swift bites. Stepping back after he had finished, the sleek-furred apprentice looked back to his mentor, hearing the warrior speak about going to the river around dusk. "Sure, sounds good to me." Sootpaw meowed in return. Swimming did sound like it would be a nice break from hunting and patrolling, and the apprentice was looking forward to it. As long as it doesn't flood, The tabby added in his thoughts; he had feared the river flooding since he was only a kit.
Sootpaw perked his ears upon hearing the voice of Copperstar, his amber eyes glancing towards the sandy rock on which the leader stood. The apprentice caught Ravenfeather's signal, and padded after the warrior as they stopped near the back of the crowd. Sootpaw listened as the EarthClan leader announced the patrols; he was to be on the dawn patrol, along with his mentor. The gray tabby also heard mention of a hunting assessment, right after the patrol. Hopefully I'll be able to catch something. Sootpaw thought to himself. Copperstar had next announced that the deputy would be named later that day, before dismissing the gathered cats. The gray tabby apprenticed soon bounded over to where Ravenfeather had moved to, stopping nearby the edge of the cave as he thought about the dawn patrol.

Smallpaw nodded and smiled at his mentor, saying they may do some battle training. He loved battle training, but Smallpaw was unaware of the gore that comes with fighting. He just knew that fighting could take down things, could overrule them. Smallpaw liked that power, because he needed to rule something. With the other apprentices larger than him though, he didn't know if he would be any good. Smallpaw shrugged as he heard a clan meeting was becoming formed. He raced over in front of the sand rock, watching Copperstar with happiness sparkling in his eyes. He was finally on a patrol! He was going on the afternoon patrol, Copperstar was probalty leaving some time for them to battle. A large, excited smile danced on Smallpaws face, looking around at the other clan cats.

ravenfeather licked a paw and whisked it over his ear. he swore he had an infection in it because every time he cleaned it, it fizzled and cracked and every time he moved his jaw, it did the same. "now, sootpaw." the black tom began, kneading the sand beneath him. "while we are on patrol, keep alert. we may not have time to practice afterwards, so i'll give you some tips along the way, if you show me what you can do." his tail whisked the air. "try and scent the air to check for prey, if you wish. but remember, use the skills you know and are confident with. and..." ravenfeather paused. "if i don't get to say it before you go, good luck." he smiled warmly down at the grey apprentice. "now, let's go get to that patrol." he prowled towards the entrance, sleek pelt rolling over his strong shoulders. then he suddenly remembered who he was patrolling with. yes! yellowfern. he smiled, thinking of the kind she cat who he had talked to only once or twice. yes, the pretty on- ravenfeather suddenly growled at himself - what am i thinking?! the tom pulled up short. the tom then realised how bizarre he must have looked so he continued to walk, this time quicker and quicker until he was bounding along before he seated himself at the entrance.
Wisppaw was caught off guard when her leader called for an announcement. Dipping her head goodbye to Brookpaw, she headed over, sitting with the other cats. As she listened, excitement grew in her; a patrol would be fun, and her mentor was leading it! Her excitement grew, when Copperstar announced that there was going to be a Hunting assessment for the apprentices; it would be perfect to show off her tree-hunting skills, something that she was the most proud of. A small smile tugged at the corner of her mouth, as she got up to join her mentor for the patrol. Her piercing eyes gave it away that she was excited, and anticipating to show off her skills. Being the oldest apprentice, and training for the longest, she would have this in the bag.
Slipping over to Cloudpelt, she gave her shoulder a few licks, as there was another stray hair sticking out. Looking back up at him, she meowed, "I'm really excited for this assessment; I've been training really hard."
