He was immediately at the other male's side when he fell, ignoring the no-slow-movements rule he'd set himself.
He was lucky Danger stayed in place, though, and once he helped Beck up he looked around for something he could
use if the dogs began charging. It was a long shot, but five feet away, close to the stairs of the building they were
staying at laid a metal pole probably three and a half feet long, only around two or three inches thick. It was enough
to ward the strays off if he hit and the two ran to the indoors. "Okay, Becket," he said, his voice in the same tone
as it had been before. "When I say three, run for the doors. Don't stop until you're inside." Val eyed the pole, tensing
up slightly. "One..." The dogs growled a little louder, a few more walking up. "Two..." The leader of the dogs, the
rottweiler, snarled and took a few steps forward. "Three!" He pushed Beck gently towards the entrance before darting
for the pole and reached it just as the first dog started coming. He smacked the rabid mutt with the pole and it gave a
loud ring upon contact, and Valentine began following suit towards the doors, still aiming for any dogs that tried to
lunge forward at them.

I'm not leaving you. He has said softly, but when he was pushed, he had had no choice. He ran, Danger at his side. and he didn't stop until slamming against the wall opposite the door. He slid down the wall, curling up in a ball as he pulled his knees to his chest. He watched Valentine enter, Danger lay down by him and he strokes her ears, trembling.

Val's heart would've melted if he heard those words before he shouted out for them to go. He quickly warded off
the remaining dogs that were trying to snap at him and closed the door in a flash, panting slightly as he dropped
the pole. It gave a resonating clang that flowed throughout the building, occupied by the sounds of scratching
at the wooden door. He quickly found himself a set beside Beck and pulled him into a gentle, reassuring hug before
pulling back quickly to check for any injury. "Please don't tell me any of them scratched or bit you," he murmured, his
voice breathy and hushed. Once he was convinced that the kid didn't have any cuts he relaxed a little, but didn't move
from Becket's side. "That wouldn't have been a good way to start this out, obtaining rabies," he murmured, giving a
small laugh, though he knew it could have really happened and almost started blaming himself for not keeping Beck
safe. He knew that he was going to be the one to protect him from harm and was ready to do so. To calm both the
dog and himself, Valentine reached over and gave Danger a quick scratch behind the ears, trying to ease his racing
heart and ragged breathing.

If you would ask Valentine if he noticed his friend had a crush on him he wouldn't know a thing. To be completely
honest, he'd never felt anything past friendship towards the kid, but there was always something there between
them that anyone could see. Though he didn't know Becket liked him, he'd probably blush like a maniac if he found
out. He didn't know if he liked the kid, but there was so much potential for a relationship in the two and he would
probably end up falling in love with him too quickly, so that was kind of why he didn't allow himself to like anyone
a lot anymore. A light blush dusted his cheeks as the smaller male leaned into him, and Val just blamed it on the
fact that they were both shaken and afraid. He moved a little closer, allowing Beck to lean on him more. "That's
a strange statement," he answered, frowning a little. "Why wouldn't I save you? You're my best friend, and I've
always been so close with you; it would really hurt to see a friend like that go. I would hate myself forever if I
had left you out there to die." His arms tightened around Becket and he held him silently, letting out a light sigh.

He smiles a bit as Valentine holds him, a blush crossing his pale face. u-um Valentine? Is it okay if I ask you something? His voice comes out quiet and shaky. He inhales sharply, too nervous to say anything more. He looks up at his best friend. He fiddles with his father's ring, he kept it on his skinny middle finger on his right hand. Since he was a leftie it wouldn't hurt when he wrote if it was on his right. Danger lays down, laying her head on his leg.

He noticed the blush, and was running out of excuses to why the kid was blushing and acting pretty awkward. It
made him blush a little more as well as he wondered, just for a second, if Beck actually liked him. Upon thinking
a little deeper, he realized it could be true after all. He just wasn't sure if it was, though. He wasn't going to just
ask out of the blue, though. "Hm?" Val asked, his blue eyes falling back on the boy in his arms. "Ask away." He
watched the smaller male twist the ring that he'd had on his hand for as long as he could remember. All through
the years, Valentine had spotted that ring on Becket's hand.. that was another thing he felt the urge to ask about
though felt like he would be intruding on family things if he did so. He watched Danger lay her head down on Beck's
leg and gave a small smile. They were just like a little family, weren't they? "No, you can't think like that, right?"
thought Val to himself, trying to clear his mind. "Not like last time. You'll just get your heart broken if you do that."
He definitely had trusted his last boyfriend but he'd been let down so easily and without warning. He'd confided his
secrets with the guy and then had them spread through Twitter. He was glad he still had friends now as it was.
