This name comes from the Yankton-Yanktonai and Santee dialects of the Lakota Sioux language

What is its favorite kind of leaves?
While other kits might have a fascination for certain leaves such as an oak or maple leaf, Dakota has always been more daring and unlike other kits. Dakota's real fascination lies with the poison ivy leaves. While other kits may fear the bunches of three, Dakota loves watching and experimenting with the bundles.
