{ nineteen } - { telepathy } - { government office/cabin } - { depressed } - { none }
bubblesbubbleswith a blank expression, celestina stares at the white walls of the cold government building. someone important government official speaks to her, their voice filled with pity. celestina blocks out their words, because by now the government official is just repeating himself. she twiddles her hands as she sat in the chair. her eyes are unfocused as she stares at nothing, unsettling the government official slightly. tears threaten to spill over as celestina sinks deeper into what happened. at this point, it's clear that she's not paying attention, but the official knows she is aware of what is going on. "you may go get your things." he says in english, since she'll have to learn the language rather quickly. celestina nods ands up sharply, not making eye contact with the man as she turns and leaves for her home. a taxi is waiting outside the elegant building, waiting for her. celestina steps in and says nothing the whole ride to her house, or what used to be her house.
as she stands outside the empty shell that used to once hold life, celestina can't help but remember the memories packed up inside this grand house. she walks slowly up the front steps, taking her time to step on each one and hold in its tiny bit of significance. with each step comes a new memory; the first time watching the sunset on the first, her first kiss on the second, and so on. only when celestina is alone and inside do the tears spill over. she goes to her sisters room, packing her sisters clothing instead of her own. she packs a measly two outfits, and fills the rest of the suitcase with pictures, blankets, and just random things lying around her house. she packs her baby blanket, her youngest sisters favorite stuffed toys, jewelry that belonged to her mother, and an old record that her father and she would listen to occasionally. as she walked out the door, ready to go to the americas, celestina could help but grab a small family picture that stood on her mothers coffee table.
on the plane to america, celestina thinks about what life will be like, already suppressing her emotions so she doesn't look weak in front of everyone. of course, she didn't get to say good-bye to any of her friends back at home. as far as they knew, she also died in the explosion alongside her family. besides, it's probably for the best that she didn't say good-bye to them. a good portion of them are wanted by the law for meager crimes, such as thievery or disturbance of the peace. as she stared out the window, celestina couldn't help but smile at the memories that ran through her head. her memories were soon brought to a halt when the plane landed. while she was getting off the plane, a ditzy flight attendant asked how her flight was. "just fine, thank you." she said, her romanian accent heavy. celestina was quickly rushed through customs, and was being driven to the place where she was to live for the nearby future. the taxi dropped her off without a word, requesting no money. apparently, the situation had already been taken care of. celestina stood outside the cabin and breathed in deeply, hiding her panicked emotions under a mask of calm.
