Redpaw woke up to Foxblaze's loud screech, and she nervously nudged Sagepaw. "Did you hear that? It sounded like Foxblaze!"

Foxblaze ran back to camp, skidding to the middle of the camp. "Spirtpelt is dead!"

Tumblekit's ears fell back. "D- dead? How?" she whispered, tearing her gaze to Foxblaze. "Did some- somebody kill her? A- Are we all going t- to die?" she said suddenly, looking fearfully up at the warrior. "I don't wanna d- die!" She quickly followed the warrior back to camp, feeling more fearful than ever before.

"She was killed, little one. But I refuse to let any other of my clan suffer. We have to find out who the murderer is...or else." Foxblaze bent down to be eye level with the kit. "Go find the queens and wake them up. I'll wake up the apprentices and Snowpool. Can you do that for your clan?"

Tumblekit's nodded quickly efore turning and bounding off towards the nursery. "Thrushsong! Azurefeather! Wake up, Sp- spirirpelt is dead!" she yelled as loudly as her voice would allow.

Foxblaze ran into the medicine cat's den. "Snowpool!" She whispered. "Snowpool, wake up! Our deputy is..." Foxblaze swallowed hard. "Dead."

In the nursery, the expecting queen lay curled up on her nest, her breaths slow and even as she was in deep sleep. But not deep enough, for she woke with a start when she heard Foxblaze's yowl. Her head shot up quickly and her eyes opened wide, seeing only darkness at first as her eyes adjusted to the dim morning light. Without wasting a moment, she hurried out out of the den as fast as her legs would carry her, her swollen belly swaying. "Foxblaze?" she called out uncertainly, looking around urgently. Then she saw a figure moving towards her from the corner of her eye and looked to see Tumblekit making her way towards her. She looked like she'd seen a ghost, with fear and worry in the young cat's eyes. Azurefeather gasped once she delieved her grave news. "Spiritpelt's dead? How? Why? That-that's our deputy!" she said in shock.

"Foxblaze found her.. She s- said that she had been m- murdered," Tumblekit whispered miserably, head drooping. "What if if Foxblaze k- killed her, Azurefeather? She was s- supposed to be on guard duty.."

"Murdered? Oh dear, are you sure it was a cat that did this? It could have been a badger or a fox, those brutes. Or an accident..." Azurefeather trailed off. She tried to think if Spiritpelt had any enemies in other Clans. ShadowClan was known to cross borders and stir up trouble... Azurefeather was then further surprised that Tumblekit thought someone in ThunderClan did it. Why would anyone want to kill the deputy? "No, Foxblaze would never do something like that. I've known her since we were kits. She's a loyal warrior, just like everyone else in the Clan."

Sagepaw was quickly awaken by Red paw, and ran out, seeing a gathering of cats. All he could do was stare...and stand up, shocked with his view.
