Same^^ I come in here and, as usual, fighting. I didn't even know this was supposed to be a debate thread ;u; if you don't support protection of wolves, why are you even in this thread? *sigh*

Sorry, I should have said "the way you come across - is very close minded" rather than you are close minded. Because it's true. And I'm not talking about only hunting.

I used to be against hunting too, I don't even live in a state where hunting is a huge thing. But I researched and talked to real hunters or simply taxidermy collectors, all which have had a deep respect for animals. I learned, and formed my own opinion. I can't speak for every hunter no, but it's not hard to tell that there are more respectable, lawful hunters in the world than sadistic, cruel hunters/poachers. I know they exist, but again - they are far from the majority. And even if the impact is slight where overpopulation is concerned (though hardly, it would be a lot worse if overpopulation culling was never used), there is still an impact. And a positive one. The way I see it is that if everything is used and nothing is wasted, all laws and regulations are followed (which means the death is almost always humane).. Or y'know, just generally not poaching. I don't see the big deal. Especially when said hunting is done on an overpopulated species. Yes an animal dies. But other animals hunt too. Why is it different for us? I rarely get this answered. Because we know better? Because we have grocery stores to buy food at? Well I'd much rather get meat from hunting than an industrial farm, and I'd rather wear real fur in a colder climate than faux. Warmer, softer, safer for the environment. Faux is terrible for the environment.

And I love cats, but seeing as they are harming themselves and the environment, I would be all for humane, regulated, feral cat hunting. In fact I think a few people on here feel the same, judging from that one thread pertaining to the subject... But there's nothing we/they can do until the government legalizes it, or does something.

I also never said our intelligence made us better, I said it set us apart. And it does.

And again, just because we are pro-hunting doesn't mean we are "against protecting wolves"? If they ever became endangered than hunting would become illegal and I would be against it until they were at a healthy population again. Hunting is not putting the population as a whole in danger. Not at all. I love wolves, always have. But they aren't worth more than other animals.

Lupen, I wasn't mainly talking about you c; I was looking through the thread and I saw some people (who shall remain nameless) coming in here just to complain about wolves. And that just bugs me. If you don't agree at all with a topic don't post unless it is specifically a debate topic, or you are there to offer actual, respectful advice.

poaching and hunting are two completely different things and you need to know how to tell the difference. state laws vary and I'd read up on yours, it might come in handy.

but yo that's a bit off-topic.
i've been hearing tons of wolves around here though, which is a bit odd with all of the people. there really has been a boom of them lately.

They're getting used to people. One of the restraunts by my shack had a family move in right by the building. They're that used to people.Do you live in MN?

I wonder why people think that wolves are vicious animals when they are just scared of people...
Its definitely strange how it seems that people only hunt wolves for money.
If their excuse for hunting wolves is for clothes or furniture, i really wouldn't accept that. If you are just hunting them for no reason; then GET A LIFE! ugh. Im sorry if i'm being a little harsh but it seriously just bothers me much. sigh.

mmm, I wouldn't say they're all afraid of people, aha. we had a pack of wolves just come out and kill these two hikers (whom had not provoked or angered these wolves at all). it's definitely not the only case of unprovoked murders done by wolves. in general, yes, wolves are more afraid of us than we are of them; but they can definitely be vicious.
people don't just hunt wolves for money, dude. I don't hunt wolves and don't plan to (I fully support regulated and legal hunting), but I do know people who do. they hunt to keep the wolf population from becoming too large, and use the wolves they hunt for meat, fur, pelts, ect. not all hunters at like that, but the majority of them are. there are poachers, but compared to the amount of people hunting wolves legally and fairly for good reason there just isn't very many.

Most of the time I only draw wolves, as I find the beauty, smarts and overall amazingness overwhelming.
The people who catch wolves for fur are just idiots. Lots of those who protect the hunters say that its their job. Well then, time to find a new one! Killing amazing beasts isn't the only line of jobs in the world, become a scientist or something.
I have made a pledge to never touch real fur of any animal. Sheep, cow, bear, any. Just because I eat meat doesn't mean I'm a murderer. Chicken and fish are most of the meat that I eat, and I think that's fine :D eating crocodiles however, is a different story...

Just out of curiosity, why do you think it is fine to eat chicken and fish but not other animals? Do you value wolves lives over livestock?

So it's wrong to hunt wolves, but ok to eat fish? I'm assuming you mean you go to the store, like Fred Meyers, and buy fish? Just a commercial store that buys fish?
