Gembacks: Are we mice, or warriors?

A gemback? Ive never heard of that!
Well you have now.

The setting
(Note, you are your gemback!)

You tread lightly through the wasteland you have found yourself in. The trees are all dead and gray, but nothing wrong with them. Your tail tip twitches nervously and yours ears are flat against your head, eyes wide and fearful. You spy a shodow through the trees, but mist is setting in on all sides, and you can't tell if its friendly or not. The shadow appears to have noticed you! It starts slowly toward you, and you bolt, fearing for your life. You don't stop until you almost hit a rockwall head on rocketing at break-neck sppeds. You sit up slightly dazed. The shadow is running along behind you, and is nearing every second you watch. It soon takes on a purplish hue with paler paws. You hear a voice call out "Wait up!" As the shadow nears, you see it is in fact another gemback! She is dark purple with a long tail and hair, with white underbelly paws and tail. Her gem was so dark purple it was almost black. She had a small trail of dark purple trailing from her paws and tail. It was a shadow elemental! Of course, having heard the myths, you believed your life was over, yet she seemed freindly, although frigntened, of what? Another shadow appears a distance away. He had a lighter tabby pelt and dark gray hair that glowed slightly purple. He too, was gaunt and afraid. You finally muster the courage to ask "What's going on here?" The explain that something has killed the forest, but they don't know what. Other areas of the world were also mysteriously dying. Gembacks from all over were trying to figure out was was wrong. A light glow sparkles in the fog, and grows steadily larger. The female light elemental was light gray with white paws and belly with muzzle. She was emiiting a bright yellow glow and had stunning green eyes. Dark leaopard spots speckled her back. She explained that she was one of the Gembacks who had started looking for a possible cure. She asks you if you would join her and her freinds. You look out into the misting woods, and back at the three elementals watching you with bright, hopeful eyes, you gaze wavering as you decide wether to accept or decline...

Personality: Ash is quiet, but cocky; she's not the best team player, and prefers to take the lead. She's actually quite motherly, and this might explain her dominance issue. She's still very young despite her act, but she hates to be called a kid. She's terrified of insects, and she doesn't like the dark too much, though she has no issues with caves and the like. She's claustrophobic, and freaks out in tight spaces.

History: Ash was created like every other gemback, she found herself near a voolcano when she awakened. Though she was forced to leave her home for its lonliness.
